Hi. On a serious note, it takes about 6 hours to reach the border in Tecate from Phoenix. I park for like $5, walk across and get my tourist card at
migracion (right above where they search the cars on the Mexican side), walk down the hill three blocks, wait in line at the Bancomer for an hour,
pay, come back and get my card stamped.
Avoid this hassle by coming through on a Sunday; they'll tell you to "pay before you leave Mexico" because the bank is closed (it also closes at 4 PM
daily).
Skeet has it right. Follow the signs for Ensenada, then the signs for San Quintin. In San Quintin, stay at Los Cirios on the left, 2 or three blocks
from the highway, lit-up white sign with brown letters, 350 pesos. You know you went a little too far if you leave the divided highway in town,
cross a bridge, and see all the mariscos stands.
Total drive day, including the bank: 11 hours.
If you fill up in Yuma, you can make it to Ensenada to fill up again. One of the hardest things a newbie has to decide is where to eat.
Have fun!
John

Just remember the speed limit is just a suggestion, except in the towns, then go the speed limit. I like to find a fast driver that passes me then
follow him, at a 75 yard gap. He will get the ticket or the truck driver that is over the center line and you can speed up the boring parts. Don't
drive at night especially on weekends. And ignore the bodies it's totally safe.

She's probably already on the road and about to cross the border
... or she got that picture she requested be u2u'd to her and bailed out on us.
She did seem really fun and a good sport. Maybe she'll come back and play some more.
