i hear it's totally cool - but im only 115lbs and 5'6" so i aint got a big punch - just an innocent smile and a 100 mile an hour mouth
also im figuring i should stop for two nights on the way down - if any of you lovely nomads have a place you could recommend i stay in that would be
great - somewhere cheap though !!

Hi. I just made the trip myself, and its good.
Stay in El Rosario your first night at Baja Cactus (room 102 if you can get it, one king bed and quiet, $30+/-). Accept Mike & Roz's invite in
Mulege the next night and enjoy their wonderful company.
Be cool, keep to yourself on the road with your eyes open and antennae up. Things should go great for you.

Just the standard safety rules.
Don't drive at night, don't pick up hitchhikers, keep you gas tank above half, etc...

hey there, Carolyn~
driving solo has been done many times. Check out this thread
http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=36760
AND~
I may get in trouble for ASSUMING things from your login name, but-----
if you are young and pretty, DO NOT get out of the car in short-shorts and high heels!
Be discreet, humble, sincere...take care of bizness and be on your way to La Paz.
Be safe and trust your instincts.
Keep us posted

Baja Nuts' advice-- I like muchly. You get a Gold Star.
I've broken all the Basic Rules:
I have run out of gas (in my big, honkin' RV) and was assisted and sent on my way in 1/2 hour. Still, keep your tank full and your eye on your gauges.
I've picked up hitchhikers: last year a lady and her two children were out of money and trying to get north. I made sure they were fed.
I have traveled at night without problem: Be sure of your car and your driving skills and need for sleep.

Wow i cant believe how quickly i got replies thankyou ! Mike and Roz that's very considerate of you ! I'm going to look up a guesthouse that a friend
recommended there - he couldn't recall the name but said he was going to look tomorrow. I know it's real important to be careful and to use my common
sense - I guess that applies equally here in the States as it does in Mexico.
I don't know what to say to you Dennis !
As it happens I have an organic cosmetic company called kissmewillyou - i think i'll pass on you though !
And as for my age, lets just say im old enough not to want to tell Y'ALL !!!

kissme, You'll have fun on you're adventure. Two days of singing to yourself and watching the Baja go by. Don't worry about Dennis he missed his last
visit with Dr. Giggles.
Welcome to our house of nuts. I like your name. It certainly got my attention.

Kissme,
You certainly have the Nomad spirit.
Travel daylight hours, keep you fuel tank half full at least, gas up at El Rosario heading south, eat at Taco Stands, drink a Pacifico under a
Palapa, and take lots of pictures to share with us when you return. Have a great trip!
Great name for a company and/or a Nomad.
Peace, Love and fish tacos.

Kiss me Buck Tooth!, I am Thirsty!!
Seriously I suggest the following:
Take a Black Lab.
Stop in San Quintin at the Los Cirios Motel{One Block of the Main Road across from the Medical Center} Cheap and Safe.
At Guerrero Negro stay at Don Gus.
At Loreto the Hotel Junipero- across from the Mission.
In La Paz The Marina is Great but Expensive so try the Gardinia.
Have fun, Keep your eyes and ears open.

Obey all the road signs - especially going through small towns. You dont want to give cops a reason to stop you.
Funny thing - I was riding with a couple girls who had never been to Baja, returning from Meling Ranch once. We were checking the map and I wondered
aloud what town was coming up. Noting the sign, she replied, "I think it's Despacio."
Moral of the story, know what the Spanish signs mean.
