Ged, that was a long list of synonyms, and Wog was a new word for me. When I looked it up, it comes up as a British and Australian derogatory term for a non-white person.

I wasn't aware that condition was contagious!

Whoops....missed that... apology expressed.

Urban Dictionary:

TOP DEFINITION
Wog
A viral illness of the flu or upper respiratory tract infection.
"My nose is running like a tap, I must be coming down with a ***wog***."

Wog
1. Prior to its modern usage, the word was used to describe a virus.

i.e. if many people are suffering colds and 'flu, you may hear older Australians say things like, 'there seems to be a wog going around'.

2. An abbreviation of golliwog, a black faced minstrel doll. The word was originally used by whites in England to described black people.
When the 10 pound pomegranates (poms) came to Aus. during the 'White Australia Policy' there weren't many blacks in the cities so the slang morphed to describe the darker skinned, dark haired locals which at the time were mainly Greeks and Italians.
Later as more Mediterranean immigrants arrived; Lebanese, Maltese, etc., they were also called wogs.
Even caucasian looking immigrants were branded as wogs due to non-English accents. Eventually the word applied to any Australian without English heritage or surname, even those born in Aus. with Aus. accents, particularly if they had darker features.

COVID-19 is not a disease?

Now I'm confused: What exactly does that name mean, then? :?:

the virus is the cause of the disease.

BTW the number of cases in the todos santos/pescadero area is huge and becoming larger. the locals that were previously acting brave about it are now frightened.

I would point out that nobody has "figured it out".

Perhaps it is time to acknowledge the political manipulation the left has used the virus for. Just perhaps...

Tio, we all feel for you! Just know that right now - today - there are thousands of 4 year olds roaming around with their shoes on the wrong feet and their shirts on backwards. Rest assured most of them, with time and patience, actually learn the difference between their right and left!

so you have hope buddy ! we are all pulling for you!

Thanks Blanca. Tim was a great guy and should be alive today. He loved Baja and when time comes his family wants to spread his ashes there. My stepmom got out of hospital two days ago. She is home but not doing well. Hard to bounce back when you are 92. Her other son is home as well but on oxygen and not able to do much yet due to lack of energy. He said it was a really bad experience and and he would not wish it on his worst enemy. The hard part is that we as family who live nearby can't really help out or even console. Its frustrating for us but Sharm having to out live her son has to be really tough. Wish we could give her a hug but that will have to wait. Most frustrating is that the greatest country in the world with the best healthcare (if you can afford it) couldn't come up with and implement a cogent national plan to attack this pandemic and now we are up to 428,000 dead. That is 143 9/11's. So far.

Take care and be safe and hope to see you in your little part of paradise in 2021.

Very sorry to hear that..

You stated two distinct things.

First, no reasonable person thinks it's a hoax and isn't really serious..

The second part is distinct. Many political things related to Covid were done to get Trump out of office. Many that were very detrimental to the American public.

I'm no fan of Trump. I'm in the middle and see the errors on both sides.

Trump caused half the people in the country to dismiss the disease as fakery... his leadership was pathetic, dismissing social distancing and masks as being only for wimps...
He personally killed >200,000 people as a result of his leadership.

I'm not gonna argue with you about it itt.

Let's just say, a lot of politicians on both sides caused a lot of needless death and misery, because of agendas.

We'll go over 1/2 million for sure. Could reach 600,000.
