It is a Medical Profession....isn't it.

But, thats what I've been saying. The cash, our participation, won't last long. It may have reached it's limits already.
What then?

We must think about this right now. Not later......right now.
Ron has to be moved to the states where he can continue treatment in a financially forgiving atmosphere.

He won't find that here.

sounds like it is wiser to get sick in a "librul" country than a 3rd world country with no social safety net.

I'm certainly not some Librul, but considering we take care of so many riff raff, I can't see why we can't help a fine man like Ron. Just my two cents.

Well....ya know what? I'm no liberal, but I am Ron's friend and I pay a lot of taxes.
So if taking advantage of the baloney liberal programs that I support is what it takes to help my bud.....do it.

Don't call me a liberal...A-Hole. I would prefer to be called a friend of someone in need.

The reason someone is intubated, or a tube for breathing placed down their lungs, is because when they have a broken jaw they will obstruct their airways so until the operation to correct the broken jaw is done, the tubes will not be pulled out. In essence, the operation must be completed to pull out their breathing tube. No one can walk out of the hospital intubated.

Unless, of course, the have a really long air hose.
When I was a doctor in another country, we had a patient walk from the facility with a tether we called the "Extendo-hose" and he walked four hundred miles before his head was whipped to the left at the end of his life-line.

He got on a bus to return and the air-line was severed, rendering the man dead on arrival six days later.

He wore NIKE walking shoes, for those of you who wonder.

Phew ok...Just got back from the hospital a few minutes ago.
Fdt is heading back to TJ with his family, angel and her family are at a hotel getting some MUCH needed rest and me...well I'm trying to get the little guy to go to sleep so that I can have dinner, a shower and then some much needed sleep.

Here's where we stand as far as news, I'll try to be as accurate as I possibly can, keep in mind that I'm running on half a meal and about 5 hours of sleep in the past couple of days, so if I misspell something or leave something out don't jump down my throat just yet.

FINANCES:
HALF of the current hospital bill for Ron has been liquidated. The receptionist has showed us a sheet of expenses that states clearly how much was spent on each thing (medicine, doctors, lab tests, etc.) We will make the expenses available to all of you as soon as Ron is out of the hospital and we all have time and space to breath. Yes it's frustrating that the surgery did not happen today for lack of funds, BUT so far the hospital has been open and honest with us as far as expenses go. They are also taking exceptional care of Ron, he has a very friendly nurse who stays with him 24/7 and by the looks of it they get along very well, I'll get to the details of his care later on in the post.

Please know that things, both financially and phisically (for both Ron and Cristina) are finally sorting out.
I saw Ron this morning just after he had his tubes taken out, although he was jumpy and nervous, he was conscious and trying to sit up already. He is still bruised and is quite a bit of pain, but when I asked him how he felt he gave a half smile and tilted his hand back and forth. Later on in the day when Laura played the recording on his wife to him he improved so much it's almost hard to believe. I must say that the love those two have for each other is AMAZING, I truly believe that if it weren't for each other they would be in worse shape, it's truly touching to see such a huge amount of love between two people.
After hearing Cristina is ok, Ron immediately improved, he lay back down as if he let a huge burden off of his back. FYI Ron does not yet know that Cristina is hurt, for his own benefit he is being told that Cristina is in TJ with her sister, because of her migraines she can not travel. To some of you it may seem wrong to lie to him at this point, but it seems as if the thing that bothered him the most and took his attention away from healing himself was the fact that he was worried about the love of his life.
Ron does not remember exactly what happened to him, he has expressed the fact that he "dreamed he was being hit repeatedly" He is being told he had a nasty fall. So please, if anyone decides to visit him, keep that story in mind for the time being, let's not agitate him now that he's making some real amazing progress.

The doctors and nurses have expressed the fact that it's a true miracle that both Ron and Cristina are alive and on their way to recovery. So I want to thank you all for your prayers and good vibes.

I know it's frustrating, but please let's keep positive.

Notice I'm not saying Ron or Cristina are just fine and dandy, they are still both very much hurting and swollen and of course they don't look good, but as far as the doctors are concerned they are both out of mortal danger, and for that fact alone we should all be thankful.

I'm going to go shower now, I probably missed some things and left another few things out, I don't do it on purpose but my eyes are closing by themselves...if it weren't for spell check I'm not sure you'd understand anything I just typed.

Good night and God bless
Keep those prayers flowing!

Another ez-pz way to send phone credit is to go into a Telcel store and give them a telephone number with payment. They'll credit that number right there and then on the spot for that amount you've purchased, 50 pesos, 100, 500.

btw, LizardLips, you stepped up, made the call and done good, man. Proud of you.

This has been hard on all of us who are far away and otherwise prevented from helping with this crisis in the way we'd wish. That, coupled with the stressors of our own personal lives and responsibilities, can cause our words to be expressed in ways which are less than articulate.

Thanks, Sirena, you darling young woman.

Thanks, everyone, for all you've done today. Its been big.

and a special thank you to Ron and Cristina for getting better.

Yeah!!

Its 3-freekin thirty in the morning-- I'm going to sleep now.

FROM MY HEART

I m praying for the full recovery of Ron and Cristina as I am positive the rest of you are too. Since meeting them and having them come into my life and although we are far away from each other and we only see each other at Mama's birthday in October I have grown to love them as part of my family.

I want to say here and now to those who I have offended in the past please forgive me for my immature statements to you or about you. I say this from my heart. This experience with Ron and Cristina has reminded me that life is to precious and too short to not like one another. The ones I have offended know who you are so please do not post here in the open forum identifying yourselves as the ones I have offended. No need to say anything in private either. Just know I am sincerely sorry and hope one day you can forgive me enough so if and when we ever met we can hug one another in friendship.

Baja Nomad please delete my post on OT and that entire thread. I think you know which one I am referring to. I sincerely thank you for that.

David

Very nicely written and said, David...:D... Thank you. I've always been amazed at how something like this makes "life" so much more valuable and all the rest of society's BS irrelivent. Takes a real man to say what you just did and an even bigger man to put it in writing. Coodos to you, David........

I'm looking foward to meeting you someday.

Money is always the bottom line.

Earlier.... I offered to drive down to Baja with my truck on a few hours notice. There are others here that have offer help in terms of money, third man actions, and researching various avenues of how to attain a good ending here. ALL should be given notice of this help. Someone here listed names of the of monetary donators only.......let's not forget the others here ...no matter how small or large of a helping hand is/was offered.

I concur with DENNIS on his views and recommendations....smart dude.

If this should help their situation down there...I offer my San Felipe beach house as collateral...should this be a tool of need.

Good morning everyone!

I forgot to mention last night that the hospital has verified that they do NOT have an MRI machine, the have how ever performed 3 CT scan's so far and also an Xray of the brain, they have the results for those in the room with Ron, I assume his visitors can ask the nurse to see them.

@Mcfez
I agree that EVERYONE on this board needs recognition, because in one way or another, be it with prayers, good vibes, pledges, $$ or time we have all helped in some small way, there for we have all put a little part of ourselves in to Ron and Cristina's recovery.
So one HUGE round of applause and tons of hugs and kisses to everyone on Baja Nomad, just for being yourselves and helping others in times of need :)

morning sunshines...today is a new day and hopefully Ron's jaw surgery is nearly done and there will be someone there when he wakes up so he sees a smiling face that doesnt have a nurses hat on! Anyone who knows Ron will agree, it will drive him nuts not being able to talk!!!

I hope the laura, her husband and Sirenita got some much needed rest last night and Cristina woke with more strength and clarity.

As most of you know now...Ron & Cristina are truly amazing people and it does my heart good to see them reaping all the love they have sewn over the years of selflessly helping so many people out.

I see alot of good coming out of all this on many levels...way to go DAvid for coming to your realization...love beats anger amigo!
We all realize how important it is to be better prepared for the catastrophic now and organizing health info etc. may very well save the lives of our family & amigos....have a great day everyone.
