Affectionately known as "Senior Hanky" (The Spanglish version of Mr. Hanky from the cartoon South Park.) Why? Because it's big, and brown, and... well, you can fill in the rest.
(And yes, I got it out of the cobbles.)

Neal, I saw your nice setup in front of your house yesterday when I traveled up to Lytle Creek with some friends. We actually got my Rubicon stuck 3X and decided we had enough. I also saw a blue Tacoma parked in front of your house as well. :?:

Yep, Ken, We have His and Her Tacomas. The old one is just used mostly as a grocery getter. Can you believe some people have cars instead of trucks or Jeeps?:lol:

When I see news feeds from the Northwest and Northeast, it boggles the mind. Here is a photo taken on Sunday up the street from Neals house. This is the same group that run the Baja Pole Line Road last December, but my Jeep had too many broken parts after Baja Grande to make the Pole Line.

I'm glad to see Marian has her Tacoma as well. Both vehicles look like they are ready for action.

"but my Jeep had too many broken parts after Baja Grande "

Ken, it takes a big man to admit when his ride can't take the Baja torture test! So, ready to shop for a new Toyota?

Heading south in a week... Baja Turkey at Lou's! Then on south to do some exploring!!!

Why would I want a Toyota for the kind of 4 wheeling I do??? A Tacoma just wouldn't do what I would want/expect.

The rear bumper (a bolt on Garvin Wilderness bumper) is trashed from all of the weight it had to support from LA Bay to El Arco. This has nothing to do with the original design of the Jeep. This is an aftermarket unit.

The rear upper shock mount is broken from the nonstop jarring and the aftermarket MX-6 (high-pressure) shock absorbers set on 'Firm' to maintain a controlled ride with all of the weight in the rear of the Jeep.

The damaged rear tires are from driving on the sand with sharp sticks that penetrated the tread. These are aftermarket tires, not the Goodyear MT/R tires the Jeep came with.

The Viair Extreme airtank is another add-on that needs a new bleeder valve. I need this airtank to reseat a tire if I lose a bead while rock crawling down Canyon Enmedio.

While I think a Toyota pickup truck is great for light duty work and camping along sandy, and dirt roads, it isn't what I want for the kind of recreation I prefer to have. Plus, it would be too expensive to have the front axle converted to a Straight Axle like the kind that my Jeep came standard with. Not to mention a 4:1 Transfer case (Neal had to upgrade his with a Marlin Crawler unit for $thousands$ of dollars).

So, I like your Toyota Tacoma mid-size truck, but it just isn't aggressive enough for my needs. Gracias, pero no gracias.

Only Modified Toyotas do the job

Here's the kind of Toyota pickup I would drive.
But, with all of the modifying it would need, I'd rather just stick with a Jeep, and have a vehicle with a removable top.

Just bring some lighter fluid, works great. Gas if your really in a bind.
