Nobody will ever catch them, Wiley. They're spirits in a stolen truck. Soon, we'll hear reports of the Mythical Movers helping desperate souls in need of relocation, transporting children and sparse belongings out of the jaws of injustice and into the promised land.
Urban Folklore at it's finest.

By the way...Look for BajaBernie at the wheel of that truck.

I think Dennis is right.

I bet the back of that thing is full of chupacabras!

It's cool though, I hear it's being driven by bigfoot.

I agree. Who cares if they are Jehovah's Witnesses?? These are ederly people who need help. Why are so many people finding this funny? I'm glad it's not my Grandma or Grandpa down there. I'm kinda shocked because Nomads are usually wanting to help.:fire: Hey Brenda thanks for the map, you could'nt try & atleast contact family members to let them know there is a problem. I won't even go into the fact that the man has alzheimers. Way to go:fire::mad:

I agree. But for the grace of God, there go I... (or you or your mom, dad, grandma...)

Seriously, people...

No the story is true. Brenda spent as much time as she could with the people and they were not aware enough of the gravity of their situation and refused to talk to anybody and try to solve their problem. She spent quite awhile with them and told them where to fill up with gas and that kind of thing. When she went in to town later they were at the gas station looking a little dazed and when she talked to them to ask what was going on, they indicated that they were waiting for instructions from Jehovah.

It really sounds like everything within reason that could have been done, was done. You can't force other people to accept your help or to listen to advice if they refuse it.

Shouldn't Brenda have handcuffed them, quit her job and driven them to the border? Maybe she could have tortured them until they denounced Jehovah gave her their relatives phone numbers!

Lets get real.

I feel for these old people and hope they are OK. Even if they are OK, and made it to Arizona, I imagine they spent a lot of money on gas and hotels they didn't plan for.

I don't think anyone here thinks that people lost in the desert is funny. But, I do find it funny how some people are so quick to judge and berate others for not doing more to rectify a situation we know so little about.

If it wasn't for this vilified Brenda, nobody would ever know about these poor people. You don't think the police or paramedics laugh about the poor choices people make that they help sometimes?

When/If they can be found and choose to accept help I am sure people here will do what they can. Until then relax and keep your eyes open.

A friend of mine who was unaware of this thread, mentioned in passing to me that he saw "something unusual" at the new Wal Mart in La Paz yesterday. An older woman driving a U-haul truck in the parking lot looking confused. Perhaps they have made it this far and eventually will make the turn at the tip and start back north? Maybe a coincidence but highly unusual to have two trucks driven by older women.

If Brenda got their name when they stayed at her place, couldn't someone call U-haul and see if they're missing a truck?

Hey! I'm lookin' for them. If they get off the highway in Mulege and come into town, they will get their UHaul stuck. Then we throw a blanket over their heads and grab 'em.

This is getting way too wierd...................WalMart in LA PAZ ?!?!?!

I was hoping for something more northerly. They can't go much further south without being spotted again can they?

If this is accurate, some seriously confused folks need help... and the JW aspect may be the alibi for other underlaying physical/mental issues. It's irrelevent if they are in need of help...

I have received several e-mails from people who have come in contact with the couple. One friend actually found them parked by the roadside in a bus stop area and asked how he might help them and did they want him to call anybody in the United States to let them know where they were. The gal then got very agitated and rather forcefully asked that the person and his wife mind their own business and leave them alone. Later they were seen in Mulege where another person had a small contact and pretty much had the same results. So I suspect that the couple of sightings in La Paz are correct. The truck is a U-haul with Arizona plates and looks pretty new except for the mirror on the passenger side which has been ripped off.
I am sure there is a great story here and since some of the bags in the back were from a hospital and her tendency to change stories and avoid all assistance, makes me wonder if she didn't do something like break the old boy out of the hospital and head for Mexico.

i'm wondering if someone could call uhaul and report this story? even tho the lady seems to resist assistance, perhaps she is not well mentally. one needs to be objective about her response and do whatever they can to help them...or, i don't really know the situation in this incidence. perhaps just trust that it will all turn out well in the end. this too shall pass!
