Doug- if you ever need a new or alternate moderator I vote for Dennis.
We always haven't seen eye to eye on every subject but he's got a good head on his shoulders and will be fair and impartial.
Dennis ole buddy you've got my vote!

Just wander down to the Pyramid Resort and walk in and say hi to Keri...one real Nomad who will knock your socks off with her bubbling friendliness.
How you can have lived in that area for 3 years and not run into many is beyond me.
Keep trying because they are all a treat

I'd like to salute Bernie for throwing out an invitation to the lady lurkers some time ago to come forward. At that time, there was a lot of
tooth-gnashing, flexing of muscle, spitting of nails and otherwise nasty exchanges, and few women posted their thoughts. Thanks to Bernie, I mustered
the courage to put my name out there, and I've never regretted the decision. I've learned a lot about the flora and fauna of Baja, where to stay and
what to avoid, and how to travel by bus. Not long after I formally joined, Off Topic was added, and that toned things down for the main board.
In my opinion, the civility level of the board has a rhythm of it's own, rising and falling over the years. One of the things I miss is the
contributions of the Old Coots who no longer post. Maybe that's because I'm an Old Cootess. What they brought was years of experience that were
willingly shared, and for the most part, genuine good will, and a sense of continuity. It was easy to see how friendships had started and continued.
I really enjoy the contributions of the newer (younger?) members, though, for their fresh energy, different perspectives, eagerness to learn and
share, and the many laughs they have provided. What I don't like is to see a newbie ask a question or offer advice only to be trashed for the
contribution. As someone else mentioned, I u2u those to whom I can offer helpful advice.
Overall, I give Nomads a big thumbs up for being the best board out there. I think there is enough social maturity that we manage our differences
pretty well, despite a few would-be manure kickers. So, back to Bernie for his contributions, goodness of heart, wisdom and backbone. The number of
women offering their words and experience has increased exponentially. Go Bernie!

Dennis,
I'm glad you saw the humor and the spirit in my previous post. It was, of course, a parody. Seriously, I love the BajaNomad for being the best source
of topical Baja information. Often it is the only source. Most Nomads who know the answers to poster's questions are very helpful in posting their
knowledge. Kudos for Doug for maintaining this site as a labor of love.
I also enjoy the spirited philosophical debates. Even the Know-It-Alls really don't!. There are always new insights that we can learn from
others. I strive to give information and philosophy based on my truths learned from personal experiences and from having lived this long. When I am
merely offering opinion I will say so. When I am answering question regarding Baja that I know from experience, I try to be responsibly accurate.
The political stances are tolerable if stated without name calling or rancor of any sort. I will occasionally jump in but try to take the high road.
Those who don't lose credibility and consequently, my respect.
Throughout my life, in the real world offline, or online, I have never tried to offend. Here on the BajaNomad there have been a few people who have
gone out of their way to attack me. All but two have been banned. I now ignore them and do not feed their troll souls. One even threatened my life. I
have to assume that, in their narrow frame of prejudice and hate, they lumped me in with perceived political groups or attitudes they hate and/or
fear.
I have many Nomad friends who hold similar and also dissimilar ideologies from me. They remain civil and I carry on the friendships in private emails.
Some I have met in person and it is always a delight! I sincerely hope to meet many many more of you in person in the future.

I have seen the forums assist many people on the USA side and Baja side. However, some that have never met even one other Nomad in person sound off
about others they disagree with talking nothing but "Plain Stupid," not even deserving a reply. The trouble with arguing with an idiot is trying to
assist them to understand gets too stressful. Stressful things cause people to get upset and others may not be able to properly identify who the idiot
is with all of the upsetting statements being made,LOL. A number of us have helped with monies for kids in USA and Mexico and do so on regular basis
without a second request ever needing to be made. I know some are very passionate about their belief or politics but attacks on others that differ
with them by name calling, saying they are terrible people or racist, etc. are just that attacks. Many of us here have worked hard for what we have
attained in life. It should be noted that some of us have worked in fields, farms, melon sheds, cotton gins, factories, etc. while growing up and
putting ourselves through high school and college. Most of us speak some level of Spanish some better than others but it does not matter everyone
seems to understand even the most broken Spanish. My overall point here is if you have picked chit with the chickens you know nobody gets a free lunch
and should not, as hard work and being a good person gets you more upward mobility than anything else. I personally lived in 5 different States, went
to over 10 different schools, lived on farm camps since my Dad grew crops for others, and I learned to appreciate a number of different cultures and
having open thoughts for others. I also know in talking with a number of Nomads at different functions they have also had some very unique life
moments which also makes them more open to other cultures even in times of frustrations over issues,LOL. I also think everyone should have to fill
out their personal information area on this site, at least where they live at presently,if they are working or retired. Most of us are keeping open
minds towards others but that does not mean we have to give them the farm. Most of us have learned a number of people that you show kindness to (when
they are acting out) only see that as a sign of weakness and get worse. So, those of us here on this site do not hate Mexico but we sometimes get
upset with the shortfalls that keep happening again and again. However, we always have hope that the current bad times turn around for Mexico for
more productive things in the future for the Country and their people. We have given of our monies, time, hopes and assistance over and over due to
having good times and good memories of Mexico and the people living there. I have been off line for a while due to personal things and came back on to
some really old stuff of name calling and talk of racial hate issues. This by newer members that I do not know and really if that is their take on
life, I do not want nor need to met them. I have worked hard like many here to do the things we all have dreamed of doing. We worked our butts off to
get into a position to actually do some of our fun dreams. The Baja Nomad site is a Great "IN" and "OUT" information source to help people in where to
eat, fun places to visit, great out of the way bed and breakfast places to visit, rentals or trailer parks, great fishing reports along with great
directions to things. The best thing really is knowing if you break down anywhere in Baja and need help, if you can get to a computer or phone, some
Nomad somewhere will assist you. Assist you without thought of payment, they are just helping because they are good people and being BajaNomads trying
to make it better. Now, I will get off my soap box. Be Safe and Travel Safely. "NO Hurry, No Worry, Just Fun" Later---- bajafun777

Dennis is good egg. He'd be a good moderator.
There are those who get a little crazy when writing about political stuff. I have often times vehemently disagreed with much of the politically
charged points of view and name calling, but those that offend often write on other subjects and totally redeem themselves. That's why I think this
forum borders on greatness.
With regard to spelling: in every instance, the world benefits much more from something of value that is written and effectively communicated than not
to have ever been written at all. Correct spelling is only a minor improvement to a profound written statement. I used to be a real stickler on
spelling and would make value judgements on the lack of sophistication of those who don't spell correctly. Spent alot of time thinking about that
issue. Then I matured and realized it is merely a matter of form over substance. Mark Twain and Will Rogers come to mind. On balance, grammer is
much more important, actually.
Admittedly, my spelling is slowly becoming atrocious, but I have become bored with the tedium of spelling correctly. Reading alot of the well stated
substantive and informative stuff that is full of mispellings written in this forum has become one of my pleasures in life.

Sorry about that Timo1 was late and just letting the keys roll along,LOL. Hopefully, the points will be taken and maybe all can meet for another get
together somewhere in Baja like we use to at the Pyramid with Kari as host. I know some on tight budgets due to the times and hotel stays make
attending tough. So, maybe even if a number of nomads were interested in a camping run now it might make for FUN event. I know Fernando,Ken,David K
and Doug along with a few others could put together somewhere on a nice beach area for all to enjoy. Could be like a big pot luck BBQ fun time, I
would be willing to bring enough hamburger patties for 80, hot dogs too along with the buns, so maybe everyone else would be interesed in doing
something also.
I think if we had a couple of these every year more people would be able to put faces to names. Further, this would allow them to actually get to
know some people they would really like once they talked to them. For those that have not actually met Bernie he is a wealth of stories and a really
nice guy, David K and Fernando both have a lot of information to share and great people. Think about it, I know times are kind of tough so camping out
in a large group is safe and actually FUN, along with really making it possible for better connections with those attending. Additionally, someone
will definately have to bring the things to make smores and hot chocolate for sitting around campfire, LOL. bajafun777

bajafun777, great idea, even if travel is difficult for some, maybe a Norte and Sur seperately for get togethers, there are many wonderful locations
throughout to do so. I'll second your suggestion..Maybe we could get Irene to host us all.... LOL
