I just dont get this aversion to the ebb and flow of a board.

It's similar to an open conversation at a party or an open discussion in a classroom. You hear varying opinions, you see prejudices, you agree or disagree, you join in or you dont.

Yeah, I guess you can leave the party or walk out of the classroom. But that's at one's loss to the continual learning curve that is life. You learn about issues and you learn about people. And you still have to provide your own filter to all this. But why shut it all out?

It's a board, fer chrissakes. Take from it what you will and discard the rest. Dont take differing opinions so personally.

I think it a little hypocritical for persons to complain about the board being taken over by newbies and their issues, while continuing to dispense antiquated information about Mexico that applied when they were last here; 5-10 years ago.

This applies more to subsequent naysaying posters that to the original one.

There IS good information contained in some of the muckraking newbie posts.

There is very little, IMO, in the latter. I sometimes feel like I am reading placards in a museum.

The problem is the comments aren't just opinions they are personal attacks.

And Jesse is innocent of this??

He's been on an anti-American kick for the last year or so. He often gets personal.

Is it THAT shocking that he would be challenged by some, on an English speaking board mostly populated by Americans??

What goes around, comes around.................

Instead he's chosen to get out of the kitchen, I guess.:light:

He started 'cooking' over on Ron's forums it seems... I agree with you Hook... He had never had a problem with posting his feelings about anyone. His counters to Muņoz (the liar of Conception Bay/ BuenaVentura) was always enjoyable to read! I thought his avatar of the Soup N-zi was most fitting, too! NO SOUP FOR YOU!

The members are the auto-correct, if I understand you.

Defining "correct" can be tough, though...............hence, the need to filter info through your own experiences.

True, but he had a huge problem with others posting their feelings. And Muņoz is no angel, but Jesse forgot to mention that Muņoz was in direct competition in real estate down there with Jesse's financial backers in Las Tres Putones, Geoffrey Lujan Pruitt and his family. Jesse also forgot to mention that the financial backers of his failed restaurant in Tijuana, La Hacienda de Tijuana, just happen to be on the Foreign Narcotic Kingpin Designation Act list of banned persons as drug money launderers. Jesse's unsavory history with Aldo Salato, another BajaNomad, is well documented.

Remember David, in Mexico nothing is ever as it appears to be. You are really way out of your depth to comprehend what is really going on down there.

Now, Barry..........

My point is that there will always be newbies that challenge the traditional bent of the board. But I still want to see their info. It's valuable; whatever their motivations for posting it. And current info is even more valuable.

I still enjoying reading the reminiscing and the way things were. Sometimes things still are that way.

But when we talk about some things like fishing and places to stay and dealing with cops in Mexico, it's changed.

I really like the light-handedness that Doug uses on the board. More info is good. Let the individual decide what they want to do with the info.

Starting to sound like a silly college philosophy prof.....

Well, you are not helping any of us wishing him to not give up posting here... Maybe Jesse moved to La Paz to get away from the issues in Tijuana. I sure didn't see any "well documented" issues between Jesse and the late Aldo... but I don't look for the bad in people... they generally expose their negativity without any special effort!

THE ANSWER

THE ANSWER
create an over 18 forum with unlimited posting.
have a 2 post per day limit on the regular board.

The two basic posters types are not compatible!

-people seeking information about Baja.

-people who mega post all day.

The mega posters will soon abandon the rated G area for the rated R over 18 grumpy pill eating mega poster area.

The educated sober people seeking intelligent on topic well informed conversation will be happy exchanging information on Baja.

Note to mega poster: the bulk of the people spend between 30 and 60 minutes looking at the Internet each day. These people don't want to sift through useless bar room jokes and burp fart posts.

Example: people asking about low crime areas in baja do not want to read inebriated posts about Antarctica.

A mirror image of some of the most popular message boards with unlimited posting would keep the mega posters happy.
A post limit would keep friendly people happy.

http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=56500#pid6733...
This is the only mega poster I am aware of who provides useful information. A small number of people will earn an exemption from the post limit. A very small number.

If no changes are made the only means of communication between English speaking baja residence will continue its downward spiral and ....
