Alright alright I made a mistake by talking about the deported criminals from the US jails to Tijuana. But if you ever talk to these guys they speak English and have more in common with the culture above the border than below and are Mexican-American in every sense of the word except they don't have the proper papers.

But the fact is there are many illegal immigrants in Mexico, and most of them are from the US. Mexico has always been a gateway for American citizen criminals on the lamb who seek refuge from the law and just want to hide out, or commit more crimes. Even in the American made movies, many of the movies plots center around the characters making a run to the border. Thelma and Louise, and Shawshank Redemption are a couple of examples of American movies with the goal of making a run to Mexico, and living happily ever after if they could just make it to Mexico.

I still think it's a joke to believe there are only 1624 American ex-pats living Rosarito. How about the the Mexican-American and Americans that only live in Baja part-time and don't bother with the paperwork? How about the the American criminals hiding out in Baja?

Here is a nice article on Mexico's illegal immigration:

Mexico's Illegal Immigrants Hail Mostly From U.S.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico -- It may be the dream of some college seniors to spend a year post-graduation working "under the table" serving pints in some glorious European city. But thousands of American adults living on the lam in Mexico? As in the United States, estimates of the number of illegal immigrants in Mexico are hard to come by. But the majority are ex-pats from the U.S., according to Mexico's federal bureau of immigration. Read the whole story: GlobalPost

http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/mexico/100916/migrants-il...
__________

Here is another Baja write up that claims there are 14,000 thousands ex-pats in Baja, and that "Baja is safe, so come on down." This was written in 2009, and perhaps a little dated, but I'm sure still accurate because only a handful of Americans have been killed in Baja:

No I don't think that's too many because murders happen all over the world including California. Then again even one murder could be too much especially if it was a close friend or family member.

A good example is what happened in Oakland CA a few weeks ago while the Oakland police were cracking down on the occupy protesters in Oakland.

During that Occupy movement weekend. There were more than 450 calls that dialed 911 and there were five murders in Oakland just that weekend! I understand from other articles that many of those calls went unanswered or the police were to busy to show up at many of these 9/11 calls because they were too busy cracking down on protesting US citizens in Oakland.

But I wouldn't for a second tell anybody that living in Oakland is too dangerous, or they shouldn't even visit Oakland. But that's what the "alarmist" do all the time who cover Mexico and Baja.

However, Dennis anytime Baja gets too hot for you. I think you should leave and come back to the USA. It's that simple. If you're worried about selling your property. Isn't your life more important than Mexican property that isn't worth very much anymore anyway?

Here is one story about Oakland's Occupy Protesters:

Chucky just relied on Google mixed with hot air. In this information age, all of you can be fact checkers too! And I never heard of any shortages of hot air in nomadlandia!

Just seems to me that had the Bush induced financial meltdown not occurred, most of this back and forth on this forum would be non-existent.

The plethora of half built high rises along the toll road would have been filled with fat, happy gringo ex-pats.

Perhaps it may still happen.

So glad to hear that Mengano has been banned. I compulsively read Borderlandbeat daily, so I'm not someone who has their head in the sand about the narco war in Mexico .... but I don't come here to read about that stuff, especially from someone who thinks that having a google alert on Mexico narco news makes them some sort of expert. Adios Mengano!

Just remember, if you're posting negative about Mengano here, he is monitoring and you'll be investigated when he returns. Kidding but not......:)

Need the Rules or Reason a Person is Banned

I would like Doug to explain to me what are the rules why people are banned on this site. Also why a warning is not given to that person before they are banned. I know it is his sand box but I'm sure there are other people like me who read this site religiously every day that are just confused by his action(s). There are a few people like Horns, Joe, Goat that say just despictable things about people and goat people on to say more bad things but they are not banned.

KIDDING.

Actually, would love to know what gets someone banned. I used to think if I used a bad word I'd be on thin ice. :D

Let's get one thing straight right now. I'm not mengano. I do not have his intellect or command of languages. I started on this site as howat but changed to Lobsterman since I could not figure out why I could not log in as howat. So check out my prior fishing adventures as howat if you are so interested. Also I'm halibut howie on bloodydecks.
