So, was the jaw repair completed, or does he need to return to have it fixed completely?

He is out of Ensenada to recover at Crissy's house. The liposuction looks good.

I am guessing Angels4 means he lost a LOT of weight, not eating solid food for a week.

How about the jaw? Does he need to have more surgery or was it completed? Thank you.

I didn't think it was a hard question... maybe there's a reason why those who have seen Ron today are not responding to it? I just hope it gets fixed so Ron is back to his old self.

Mood: Savoring life while saving the world!

[*] posted on 9-17-2011 at 03:47 PM

Hey folks!
Well, this was one heck of a ride that's for sure, let me first say that I am honored to be able to help such amazing people as Ron, Cristina and their families, they are the heroes in this story for their strength and unity before such a crisis.

When I met Christine last night and saw her again this morning, I could see the determination to get through this as a united family in her eyes, she has not stopped working hard to get her daddy out of this situation, so first of all I want to give props to her for going full steam ahead this whole time, her husband and adorable son are also vikings for sticking this out and helping her deal with her emotions and also all of the organizational issues that came up, they are a beautiful family, on both the outside and the inside, and I'm very glad to have found new friends in them.

Last night I spent quite a while with Ron just sitting with him and watching the movie Dick & Jane, we laughed, or I laughed and Ron chuckled through clenched teeth, and enjoyed the quiet time together. He is such an amazing person that even just sitting with him in silence was an honor and I could feel his energy and desire to get well.
This morning when I went to say goodbye I had tears in my eyes of pure joy to see him so happy at the fact that he was leaving the hospital with his family.
Fdt and I took him some balloons and a card on behalf of all the nomads, I think he enjoyed them very much!!

It's amazing to see how much both Ron and Cristina have improved over the past few days, and I'm so thankful that they will both recover from this and be stronger people because of it.

As I lay in bed last night I found it comforting to think that even though these monsters who did this beat them badly and almost took their lives, they did not succeed, they did completely the opposite, for I believe that what does not break you makes you stronger, and I know that once Ron & Cristina and their families recover from this tragedy, they will be stronger people, they will have stronger relationships with each other and with all of their friends and they will have a stronger relationship with God.
It's funny how bad things bring good people together, and I'm very proud to be part of this family of cybernuts! =P

I also want to let you know that Ron has been told what happened to him by his daughter and his wife, but they have decided not to tell him what happened to Cristina just yet, it's a lot to handle for both of them. He took it better than they expected and was all smiles when I went to say good bye, I even got a hug!!!

We will be making the hospital expenses available for you guys, so you can see what the money was spent on, but it might take a few days while Ron gets settled in at his daughters house and she finds time to scan and send them.

Thanks for all the prayers and donations and visits, I know it's taken a lot out of all of us, both physically and emotionally, but I would not hesitate to do it all over again if any of you should need it.

So...after a couple of tanks of gas, a few sleepless nights and very little food I'm pleased to say that this ordeal is finally coming to an end (we hope) and both Ron and Cristina are well on the road to a complete recovery.

Oh...as far as the surgery goes, it was not completed, it's my understanding (and I could very well be wrong) that they will get Ron to a doctor in the U.S. on monday so they can check that out and finish it up there. As I said, I could be wrong.

Anyway, thanks a bunch to everyone! Now...I'm off to clean the house and take a much needed shower!

In my broader view.

Ron, I don't know you...just recognized your handle...but I trust community, and clearly your tribe knows you stand tall as a man among men. That's plenty good enough for me. While I wept at reading your misfortune and agonized with you when you had "lost" your sweetie, I have wept too to read of your recovery and maybe even more at the generosity and deep desire to help which springs so naturally out of this Nomad community.

How on earth do we use this lesson to strengthen the other communities in which we live. I see how this community has put aside its differences and pulled together and wonder how that magic could ever be applied outside what for many of us is only a cyber-friendship. When this thread was new and raw, David K wrote: "one for all and all for one". My thought at the time was wow, this emergency even has DK spouting socialism.

I acknowledge my activist judgement and projection while noticing that the sentiment he expressed seemed to work nicely when one giving member of a small community needed a hand; many were outstretched.

The "something positive" piece I'm taking from this is around community and how to grow and nurture it, and how it can serve us. It can't replace insurance, but insurance can't replace a heart.

I had a thought about you today as I crossed my neighbor's driveway and saw again the dried splash of animal blood there. There is a lion in our neighborhood taking cats and raccoon. It isn't completely safe to be out and about at night. I prefer lions to the predators in your neighborhood, but it seems most 'hoods have some kind of objective danger these days. Heal well. I hope I get the honor to meet you.

(This piece was appropriately placed when I started it this morning! It may now be in the middle of a completely different mood!)

Its the journey, not the destination

Beautifully and thoughtfully written message, Vagabundo, and the timing of its posting, perfect. Thank you. I've followed your posts for years now and hope to meet you one day.

This is a time in which all of us are reflecting on life, joyous that Ron and Cristina are past this initial travesty and on the path to recovery and renewal. In many ways we, too, are at a crossroads, a place of new beginnings in life.

There's still many miles before sleep and much more love and laughter to share. We've all been given another first chance. Grab it. Walk on! Live like it ain't over yet, yet with the wisdom of how precious and fleeting life is.

We've been given a unique opportunity of reflection, to gather our energies together and approach life anew, embrace life, choose life.

The journey of existence always comes to the same place: we re-merge with Essence, for there is no other reality, no other place.

While we have this time in physical form its ours to savor, sensuate, live big. The details are small, just live big.

The time or place we reach the rainbow bridge really isn't ours to command. Ours is to be in the now and live with intelligent wise choices for the present and future.

Thanks, Everyone, for walking together these days.
