Excuse me for being ignorant...
Are the three recent incidences and the Rosarito shootout reported by news media all over the place what you all are referring to?

I will admit that I have given more thought to the free road since you started promoting it here as an alternative. I've driven it more times than I can count, but usually when I've got passengers. Alone, I choose the toll road. I view it as "safer" because there is less traffic and therefore less chance for a problematic "fender bender"... or worse.

Just my dos centavos...

54.72% no change?
a. We're all smoking the same stuff
b. Drug cartel/police are voting multiple times to improve their incomes
c. Someone is attempting to improve odds v. Lizard Lips by recruiting more Nomads to golf tourney.
d. Diane Gibbs voting multiple times
e. Other?

robrt8, the news of past 6 months posted here has highlighted numerous problems with drug gangs, police and police imposters committing crimes ranging from traffic ticket mordita to assault to murder.

I am a new, but experienced, nomad who shares all of my experiences. My many trips back and forth through the Ensenada/TJ "gauntlet" have been positive cultural and entertainment adventures.

Mood: Anxious to get south

My reasons for traveling the toll road south of TJ in the past are:

Relatively quiet as far as traffic goes.

Road in good shape.

Beautiful views.

Easy on and off at Rosarito if I felt like stopping for tacos, bakery goods or booze.

Like Jeans said, less likely to be involved in a fender bender.

When we travel Pacific side, it seems we would be quite out of place driving through the middle of town with an RV or truck and trailer all loaded up with atv's or a boat, depending on the trip. The toll road, you expect to see such rigs.

However, our next trip Pacific side, which will be sometime this coming summer, we will take the free road on many or your advice.

Where does the free road come out when it joins the Toll road, Fox studios or North Rosarito beach?

Haven't had a bad trip yet....
