Could be, but they don't look like the "Burning Man" type to me.

Maybe they eloped.

So they walked into Mexico, what did they park their car in one of the US side lots? those places usually tow nightly.

I heard somewhere Melissa withdrew $700.

I also know some people get away with showing birth certs at the border crossing in lieu of passports.

There are plenty of places to park NOB.

Now that you mention it....I do recall the amount as being "max." Thanks.
An amount like that could last a while, even for partiers.

It sucks not being a driver. I don't know the rules on the parking/ins, etc. I just feel that something is strange about this whole walking and buying car insurances thing, can't put my finger on it.

So, other than the insurance purchase, there is really no evidence that they're in Mexico?

An earlier poster said that they do photograph/record plates going into Mexico - my wife (from Tijuana) also believes that's correct . . .

We just received a phone call from Melissa from Ciudad Constitución and although the details of why they are there is sketchy but they are at some hotel and she no longer has her car and is down to $50USD. The phone card she had just ran out and she went to go buy another.

She sounded ok and didn;t think anyone was looking for them.

Is anyone here near there?

More to follow as soon as they call back.

This, I hope, is excellent news, Tim.
No questions now. Good luck. If you need someone to go down there, let me know.

Well Hallelujah!!! I'm probably a couple hours away....in La Paz....if you don't get any response from anyone closer, U2U me with what type of help would be beneficial.

I'd think you could western Union money to a bank in Constitucion Melissa's name in for bus fare. She'd need to have the confirmation number to pick it up....and ID.

Or were you thinking more along the lines of someone reading them the riot act on your behalf?;)

I appreciate the "riot act" reading but at this stage I just want to get her and Mat home. So I guess I could go to a Western Union and they would assist me.

Is her account dry? There are ATMs all over Constitución.
If her account is empty, you could deposit money into her account.
If that wont work, Western Union still transfers money.

Oh yes, I did not even think about her own account. However Banks are closed here until tuesday but there has to be a way to get money in her account.

They can live on their 50 bucks for one more day. Don't worry about that.
Is Mat OK?

If you or someone in the family has an account at her bank you should be able to do an online transfer into her account despite the holiday.

I just spoke to her again and Mat is ok, I kept the call short so Mat could call his folks. They have their hotel paid through monday so they should be ok until we can get some money to them and get them a bus ride north.

She is suppose to call back again in a little bit so i'll keep you posted.

Is anybody down there close enough to take these kids under their wing for a day or two?
Sounds like they could use a Nomad friend.

Yeah....Thanks, FA. I know they're all reading this, but if they can't help........well, what can I say.
I'll remember this when hurricanes are blowing crap out of these "Nomads" and all they own. Their cries for help.

I guess it's too much trouble to help others in need.

Just can't be bothered.
