On-board Air - Jeeps usually plumb their air systems from the engine compartment. :light:

Yes, I am sure... now, what did you want from me?

My opinion is that this 'legendary reliability' phrase is just a coined term. Toyota makes capable trucks, but their hype machine has gone into warrantless overdrive, IMO.

I don't think an AC compressor makes pressurized air... it is more about cooling the freon. However, what we do is attach a 12 volt air compressor pump to the battery and can add 5-6 psi per minute to a deflated tire (if you use the one Doug sold here on Tienda Baja Nomad or Harbor Freight's unit.).

Oh, I don't know since I don't work for Toyota... all I can say is I have owned a Jeep and I have had Tacomas... and it is so night and day between the quality and reliability of my Tacomas, (also my Mazda, my Mitsubishi, my Subarus) VS. that Jeep and the one other American vehicle I owned (a Plymouth), that you would have a hard time to convince me to throw money at anything with a U.S. brand name on it.

I also have but one vehicle as both a daily driver and an off road vacation truck... so it can't break down.

I do recall you only use the Jeep for fun and you also drive a Japanese brand car as a daily driver... They (Japanese brands) usually don't have 'issues'... right?

Issues:

Honda Pilot: The CD-Changer is jammed/out-of-service at the moment. Other than that, no complaints with the Honda.

Jeep Wrangler: The 9 yr. old subwoofer has finally blown.

Aside from an expensive CV joint overhaul that I am expecting in another year or two, it should be smooth sailing with the Honda.

Subwoofer? Did you lose a shock mount on you last Baja trip... anyway, that's okay Ken... I really do like Jeeps... I just wish they were now made by Toyota instead of Fiat, lol! What is taking them so long to make the Wrangler based pickup... The Gladiator? Jeep told dealers to not be surprised to find a truck added to their lineup.

I am told that the reason the german economy does so well is because germans buy german. I was suprised at this. 'You mean there are no toyota dealers in germany?', I asked. Surely someone must see the better value in japanese cars.

Nope, the cars are available to the buyers but they just buy german anyway. Apparently this is particularly true during difficult economic times. This may be true of many homogeneous nations: national loyalty trumps economic benefits.

That is a non-stock shock absorber that lost a nut and bolt, not a shock mount - big difference.:light:

The shock mount is WELDED in place by 4West:bounce:

Lets just say you didn't see parts shortages for US owned automakers after the tsunami in Japan. There is a reason they call them Japanese cars.... Assembled in the US and Made in Japan...hense the part shortages for JAPANESE auto manufacturers. Pls buy American and help our economy get back on its feet.

Please America, make better cars... !!

So far, I only like two, the Jeep Rubicon and the Ford Raptor... Once they are both quality and affordable, they will be considered.

It works the other way around for small business owners: The economy improves (when governemnt gets out of the way and stops spending our money), first... then we buy cars, better sprinklers... Baja trips! :light:

You sure you want to go there? 'Trickle-Down' works great for me------when the economy is booming, I prosper. When it is not allowed to "boom" I suffer some. The govt. is stifleing the economy right now, and that hurts (trickles-down to) almost everybody unless you have hedges against that happening. I look around my middle-class neighborhood and see all the toys and newer cars and it is hard for me to believe that they are "hurting" that much at all, but appearances are deceiving, I suppose.

On a previous subject--------I had an Audi and a Mercedes back in the '70's and 80's, and tho fun to drive they both broke the bank in constant repairs and servicing. NO more German cars for me. I have a '97 Toyota, an '89 Isuzu, and a '07 Nissan X-terra and love them all. My '94 Ford F-250 4x4 has been a dream also, I must admit, and my '69 Ford F-100 is still running strong too.

It's been delayed they couldn't find a welding rod strong enough. Toyota is shipping one by overnight delivery.
