[/rquote]You do realize the biggest name caller here is the OP. Usually when someone post something he does not agree with. No rule here that I am aware of says everyone has to agree...but I would think there is some rule against attempts at personal insults.[/rquote]

Perhaps, my post was intentionally general to not call out individuals regardless of their point of view. Sorry, I don't feed off or add to the drama.

Maybe you forgot this part.

"I respect everyone's right to have and post their opinion here, but how many posts and how many insults should the rest of us have to endure so that a few here can, time and again, remind us that they are opposed to what is loosely referred to as off-roading, and that they represent a higher form of evolution then the rest of us?

Bruce "

Not so general in my mind. But that is ok Press on with your unbiased/noinvolved/no drama posting.

Is this where the thread went off the rails?

Dont label all off roaders as not caring Slime ball MT66.Your Rants about what you do in in the US. Have no business here in Baja. Even from slime balls in San Deigo. If you want to state Where all the same, you will be called out Slime ball. With me bringing Attention to off road problems in Baja, this is just a few.

Goat expressing his opinion, which is held by some, and the OP responding in a rather emotional manner.

The forum administrators have obviously made the decision to allow people like Mtgoat666 to post an unlimited amount of annoying material. The only reason I can think of is because a lot of people enjoy these type of posts and it increases the overall board activity.-just look at some of the most popular television programming.
It would be incredibly simple to clean things up. Other boards I belong to have moderators who quickly bring things under control, with a few words and possibly a warning.
I have never seen a board member such as Mtgoat666 dish out the crap and then have others(including me) give it right back without ever hearing from a moderator.
Furthermore, is this Mtgoat guy for real? How could someone keep returning to post after being punished and abused constantly? In a few months I have seen this individual being called turd, chithole, looser, loser,
scumbag, marooon, marooon, village idiot and a handful of others I can't think of right now.
Occasionally the admin. will step in and warn people not to feed the trolls. Why does the admin. not warn or ban certain posters?
I have mixed feelings about posting to a public board. On the one hand I have received plenty of useful travel info. and participated in some good discussion and have posted a trip report in return. On the other hand, I'm not sure if I will post a trip report the next time I visit Baja. I have a few reasons but mostly because of a small list of people who I just don't want to give anything to. I just think they are a pita and offer very little.

Maybe if the goat was not insulted with such nasty names or fed during his sometimes controversial statements this issue would not exist.

Maybe if he didn't chit in every thread he would get a little more respect.

Goat's a troll who enjoys it when folks get upset. He doesn't want respect, especially yours, or mine. ;)

It's a classic Internet persona. He often expresses counter and valid viewpoints, in an intentionally annoying manner. So what.

By bringing up of all places Glamis then chithole place. When Im talking about a place in Baja. This is not opinion, its just MTs B.S. If he made these remarks on any other off road forum,my insults would be tame words.

Here is the route we used south out of Meling to get to VG on bikes back in December 2016, based on previous maps (Pin 9) looks like this may stay north of the problem area.

Very nice map,the route down to the mission(blue line) does in fact go past problem Rancho. If you do not make Lt turn to Mission ,and just keep going that is open. You end up on paved observatory road, not a fun ride.We checked around Rancho El Carricito every trail/road/foot path.Fence or locked gate. After we hit paved observatory road,we went down about 1-2 miles.South back in to dirt some cross country,no locked gates.Ended up 1 mile south Camilu. Im told there is a single track (old) that is south of problem rancho. Comes down south of the mission. This is only talk at this point, when it cools down.We will hunt for this route,I believe it comes out.In a rancho at bottom of mountains, before we attempt this. I will drive truck to rancho, ask permission first.

I for one would hate to see Goat go. He poses some valid points, and yes he is frequently insulting, but overall contributes to the entertainment value, and occasionally some helpful Baja information. To respond to any insult on this board is an exercise in futility and a waste of time.

Goat and JJJ are two classless jerks that should have been kicked off years ago. They have attacked others that contribute much more they ever could. Their vulgar comments drove one of the most intelligent members away. In my opinion they are the root of why BajaNomad has went down hill the past couple of years.

Thanks for putting me in the same class as the Goat. But really, I don't think I hang out in the regular forum that much to be mentioned along side Goat, although we are both progressives, which seems the real problem here.

No doubt Goat, loves the attention this thread is giving him.

That said, this thread about off-roading reminds me of threads about bullfighting, where members talk about their love for the so-called sport of bullfighting, while the rest us aghast of the brutality of bullfighting, where the bull is abused and finally killed for the amusement of the sadistic masses in the stadiums.

But if any progressive animal lover, jumps in the thread and talks about the brutality of bullfighting, they get attacked by the pro-bullfighting crowd, told to shut up, and they are even called trolls.

The same thing is going on here with a thread of off-roading when Goat, just mentions that when driving on private land you should be a pleasant guest than an ugly American, if I could paraphrase Goat.

In fact Goat's statement, gave Ron, aka Baja Gringo, courage to say something similar to the Goat, Ron said, " But as often happens, it's the few bad apples that end up spoiling it for the rest."

So keep in mind threads about off-roading come off as insulting as bullfighting threads, given the so-called sport destroys habitat, displaces wildlife, pollutes water, fouls the air, noise pollution and other damage.

Personally, I find these threads boring, and rarely if ever will post in them, but sometimes others will see the thread like this, and can't help but mention some of the negative things about the sport, because for them, it's insulting to even read about off-roading.

I would say if somebody like the Goat, or jumps in a thread like this, don't get your panties in a bunch, he is entitled to his opinion and he knows a lot about the environment and American behavior in Baja.

Of course if you want a forum of only like-minded individuals who are white, gray-haired and conservative, I'm sure you could find such a place, just like there are forums just devoted to Baja off-roading.
