La Bocana kids ROCK!!
he soooo won big time....by a long shot...then he wanted to enter all the other catagories for older kids too...they didnt let him but he rode along
behind anyway and ended up riding the 6 km course on his little bike....that's my guy!!!
At the BBQ, while everyone else was eating, chatting and fooling around, this guy was on his bike practising!!!
Chris helped him lubricate his gears which probably gave him the edge!!
AND man can this kid tell jokes too....he told the whole group so many long long involved story type jokes...he is one to watch!! I dont know his name
but they call him Tololoche which means one of those big stand up bass guitars...and he is BIG in character.
His quieter brother also won his division as did a sweet girl also from La Bocana...what they lacked in blingy uniforms and cool bikes they made up
for in spirit!!!
here is a link to a little slide show I'm working on of the weekend event...man the kids sure are cute! enjoy

GREAT job Nomads, I will keep and eye for more good bikes. To compete in this type of races you need a good sound bike, so they are hard to come by in
the swap meets... but I will keep trying, good job Blanca and Shari, like I always say, been a Nomad is great.....

Bajacat !!!! how are you doing buddy !!! long time no news ... keep your eyes out, a mountain bike will show up ...but if you have a chance to visit
ANY bike store, they are always interested in helping out poor kids - at least this has been my experience .... Let's work together on this ?!
any bike is good for training and when we have enough, we can sell some to buy a mtn bike
newsflash: we got a sponsor for the new kid: Duncan ... you can find his picture on the website I made for them:
http://sites.google.com/site/bocanabeachbikers/
I saw a bunch of kids training today .... quite impressive. do I sound proud ???? cause i am

thanks Natalie Ann - Nena and thanks for the info on the site error, misspelled google oooops Now fixed.
Last weekend everyone helped - the moms of the boys who went to the weekend race were fantastic - they made a quesadilla breakfast for ALL OF US and
cleaned that kitchen top to bottom .... the sponsors as usual are outstanding and I am constantly amazed at how generous Americans/Canadians are.
what a superb quality to have in our genes
have a great day everyone and keep those connections to bike shops coming in !! I will contact them one by one til we get one for each club ASUNCION

Just back from a quickie scuba dive in Mulege...last night we had a little powow brainstorming session about ways to promote mountain biking in
central baja...cooperating with the clubs in our area. We came up with some outstanding ideas..cant wait to start to impliment them.
Chris the plant guy...soon to be the plant bike guy...is off to the other side armed with material to make flyers to put in the bike shops and some
great ideas to bring attention to the amazing courses in this area. It is cool to see him so motivated to get back into biking...he's getting his bike
ready to ride with the team!!
here is the link to the newspaper report...well done amiga

Antulio Buckowicz is Mulege's Bike Club advisor and bikeman. He'd love to get onto the regional circuit with his kids. Perhaps your team
leader can confer with him soon.

great idea Mulegena...perhaps you can have a chat with him too. Something we would like to do is help create and promote a mountain bike circuit for
tourists in cenral baja. A package could be designed with a guide of the various trails and courses from GN-Mulege using the circle route through the
coastal villages on the pacific side so bikers can visit and be shown the trails by the local club members...you can ride with the team as they
train!!
We think this might be a neat way to raise money for the clubs while fostering international goodwill and raising awareness of the sport here in baja.
There are some world class singletrack courses here that I'm sure bikers would love to ride and the locals could serve as guides.

Bikes
Ok Ok...like I need a NEW project.
When I cross the border headed to Mecca my truck is ripping at the seams with my mule-packing stuff and supplies for at least 3 wks, a bunch of 50 lb
salt blocks and protein buckets (for the ranchers), school supplies and books for the mountain kids, and things for the ranchers and the women-folk
who rarely leave the hills....now just where can I find the kind of bikes you guys are looking for that I can afford? The next question will be for
me-WHERE will I put these bikes??? Maybe on top?
Seriously I would like to bring down a bike or two when I head south again in November so please advise on what kind and how much...will start
accumulating helmets.
And to the people who emailed me-yes, we got a certain little boy seen at Shriners' in Los Angeles after a year of work to do so....learned that
Shriners is only orthopedic and burns and doesn't do neuro...found out he has CP...soooo now working on leads to CP materials for teaching in Spanish
bright kids who can't talk...this kid is gonna learn his letters and how to read!!!
Teddi
My other 4WD is a Baja Mule!
La Mula Mil Survivor 2013-2014!
1000 miles by mule from the tip to Tecate!

BB...you do so much for your "team" (los rancheros) already...it is sweet you always want to do just a bit more! Sure, bikes can go on
top...or...maybe a helpful nomad who doesnt have mule gear can offer to take one down...just a thought. It is amazing what has been and can be
orchestrated through this board with a little time, effort and coordination.
Of course trail bikes are best, but as Blanca said they can sell other bikes to raise money to buy the equipment, uniforms, gloves, parts etc. that
they need. We can arrange to have stuff dropped off at other places too if you arent coming into our neck of the desert....like Vizcaino, GN, Mulege
etc. and they will find their way to those who need it most.
thanks for thinking of the kids.

wow.... I agree 100% with Shari .... thanks for thinking of the kids ..if you find the room, here are the tips I have:
1. apparently one can get a used bike carrier for 3 or 4 bikes for $20 on craigs list or on ebay or swap meets. swap meets also have bikes for $20 -
$30 each - any bike, really, absolutely any bike in any shape is fantastic. I fit needs TLC, send me a u2u, I have a contact who is fab with
makeovers in San Diego
2. our fishing coop in ensenada will happily truck the bikes down to us. just let me know when u will be there and I will coordinate !! that wasy,
you have less distance to travel with extra weight etc.
3. every donator gets a free night at our B & B, so, you are invited officially to come to LA BOCANA - here is the link:
www.labocanahotel.com
happy trails !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanksssssssssssssssssssssssssss

the boys did a carwash today ... and they worked so hard .... it started at 9 with us getting stuff together and car washing per se started at 10. and
ended aT 5 pm.
and they want to do it again tomorrow .. so if your car needs cleaning, you know where to come
we gave them lunch and dinner and they have agreed to split into 3 groups and each group will work one weekend during the month
they also sold raffles for 15 tacos and the winner was chosen today and is probably eating them right now - that would be Angulo munching !!
we also started a new raffle for 50 sushi and a cake with 2 possible winners - boy are these kids motivated to make this happen or WHAT
