"A hug speaks louder than words"

A reminder of common sense, consideration of others, discussion of boundaries, and the fact that everything anyone does has a ripple effect will hopefully diminish anxiety and reinforce safey for all.

Dad still hasn't contacted me.

I did get a frustrating phone call from a SD Investigator...essentially she said that because he is in Mexico, they can't help me. "We're not going to go down there to look for him"

Ok, Ms. Detective, so you called me why???

Cynthia....Did he mention to your uncle his whereabouts or contact information? Probably not, but I'm just asking.
Did you post your phone number here or on CL? Was the investigator with the police, or private?

Just hang in there. Something will come forward.

Is a hotel/motel in Rosarito Beach, located at Blvd Benito Juarez and Blvd de La Palma, about two blocks north of the Rosarito Beach Hotel on the west side of Benito Juarez

Good news all around it seems for folks trying to meet up with family down in Mexico. In hopes of helping out, I might add that it seems that the separate mindsets of North of the Border families versus South of the Border families often leads to poor communication when time and resources are short. I have a theory about this and a solution, it seems that NOB people are used to having long casual conversations via email and phone while those traveling down south don't often have cell signal, credit, internet access etc... furthermore, those who are out of their element down south can not not answer clearly such as where are you, is there a western union and what do you need to receive money, where are you going etc... so when the connection is finally made, two separate mindsets and modes offer little clear communication, consensus or resolution.

I have learned to think about this in advance and write down very specific questions that I will ask/answer when we connect. This helps to get to the point in a few seconds and get an answer.

Over the years I have spent way too much time, trying to connect with a family member or friend, who is likely standing behind a palm tree a few feet away or perhaps a thousand miles away, but due to regional whimsical differences and unclear communications there is often a disconnect.

Ask simple direct questions with one word answers. Do you need help? Where are you? Are you eating ok? Would you like to come home? Are you going north or south? Where will be on x date? Can we send money to the western union there for you? Where will you be staying exactly and for how long?

Will you promise to call again on x date and time.

Solutions to lost banking cards are:

Send a replacement with a new arrival, DHL etc... Marinas are often good places to send packages for travelers. Send money electronically to a mutual trusted friend with a functioning banking card to meet up with.

Send money to Western Union, or in some cases American Express.

Buy a (RT?) ticket for the person to fly home if they can get themselves to the airport. At home they can regroup and head back south with a better plan and bank card(s).
