banking/ housing disaster (Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, etc.). It isn't isolated with a few making bad decisions, the whole country is suffering and we
are WORSE off than 3 1/2 years ago.
Thank God that I had a great run from 1980 to 2008 to build my business, in order to raise my kids from 1988 to 2008 when both had reached 18.

David,
I think a considerable amount of blame lies with individuals. I'm talking about those that bought RE early on with little or no down, then when they
accrued big equity gains they took out 2nds. With that many bought toys they could otherwise not afford. We all know them. Remember the no income
verification loans, some blame is on the individual that really couldn't afford those loans but was only counting on equity build up of 20%+ yr to
make it pencil.

YES, Ken, very true... and the banks had their arms tied by Frank/ Dodd when the government insisted they loan money to anyone with no regard for
financial ability to pay back the loans.

Thanks Ken, but the left always resorts to name calling and personal attacks in hopes to silence those that expose the truth of their policy results.

Hey stop right there. You are the one that brought up your work record not me.
"Thank God that I had a great run from 1980 to 2008 to build my business, in order to raise my kids from 1988 to 2008 when both had reached 18. "
And Ken he brought his personal "experience" into this as a way for blaming the "left"

Although the Messiah has spoken, he would be better off deleting his posts (as he threatened to do) rather than blaming others for name calling.
Nothing personal David.

Frame cracks-------------at the risk of putting everybody to sleep--------my heavy steel CALLEN camper, plus really bad Mexican roads, cracked the
sub-frame on my F-250 several years ago right behind the cab, and the whole truck sagged in the middle. I had the frame on both sides, just behind
the cab (an extended cab), welded up with heavy duty channel iron added to the mix to stiffen, and hopefully strengthen, the frame. It has worked
like a charm, and no further problems since. I had an outfit that hand-built heavy duty utility trailers do the work--------was really happy with what
they did, and I stuck around to see exactly how they did it. They used an arc welder, not gas, so as not to heat the existing frame to much and
damage it's temper (as they explained it).

Where did I blame the "left"? I didn't. My point was of personal responsibility in ones bad financial decisions.

This nation was founded on risk takers.Thank god for them.It seems the left(I am an independant)wants to punish them. |
Its gotten very easy for either left or right to extend blame rather than looking at what opportunities they have in their own lives. Too many people
want it all without having to work for it. I think most thinking people agree that it was greed that caused the housing bubble. Greed by all parties
in the transaction. Another get rich quick scheme that crashed.

Well said, both Whisler and RTS--------------but "greed" in Man is not going away any time soon, I fear-----so we (all of us) better figure it into
our thinking, and take appropriate steps to protect or hedge ourselves, and/or even take advantage of the greed in others (which, of course is "greed"
thinking in itself). If YOU don't, somebody else always will.
Even if Gordon Gecho was wrong with his "Greed is good" comment (and that is still open to question), Greed is with us and always will be, no matter
how many folks think that Greed is Outrageous!!!
Just my thoughts-------

Don't ask me that question. In 1985, I worked at McDonalds for $3.25/hr. To me, it felt like a complete waste of time for that amount of money. I
was in High School and brought home a whopping $60/month at the time.

When I started working, while still in high school, at a pizza place (remember Straw Hat?)... the minimum wage I was paid was $1.90/hr. That was
raised to a whopping $2.10, but it still couldn't pay the gas my Jeep drank to get to the job! Gas had just jumped up to .60/ gallon!
My solution was not to complain, protest, or ask the government for help, but to get a BETTER PAYING JOB! I did, $5/ hr. Oh, to be 18 again!

If it was a waste of your time why did you work there? Did you not learn something that helped you later or a skill that helped you. I don't think any
job is a waste of time, it is a learning experience to be used to further your education or job experience. I worked a lot of jobs growing up and each
helped me decide on what I wanted to do with my life.

In 1985, I drove a 6 cyl. Chevy Nova - Dad paid the gasoline. The gasoline was still cheap, but thanks to one tanker running aground (Exxon Valdez)
gasoline jumped from .75/gal. to $1.35/gal. Can you say RIP OFF!?!
In 1987, I went straight to college.

gallon.
