Since visitors to see Dennis are welcome at Kaiser, what would be the best time of day or evening to try and visit Dennis there? Can we sneak a Pacifico in (I am just kidding)?

For EnsenadaDr

I do not want to hijack this thread about Dennis and his recovery in any way, but may I ask you about the details concerning choosing between the VA hospital in La Jolla and alternate hospitals the the VA administration reimburse?

Does a vet with no other outside insurance get to choose a hospital in San Diego and will the VA will reimburse?

kaiser vs VA

Dennis had supplementary Kaiser insurance, and I called Kaiser admitting and they said as an emergency patient he could go to either ER. I know that sometimes Kaiser will keep VA patients more often than not for a lack of beds. Dennis chose Kaiser and as I may have mentioned the surroundings are alot nicer to start off with initially, plus Kaiser is an excellent facility as well.

I believe that Sharp Medical Center also has an agreement with the VA that allows Sharp to provide beds/treatment for VA eligible patients.

Correct me if I am wrong, but Dennis is well past 65, and likely on Medicare, and has a Kaiser supplemental.
There would be no need for VA, he should be virtually 100% covered under the Kaiser and Medicare.
And, we found a survey last month that lists Kaiser Medicare supplemental as the premier coverage in California.
Not sure what all the VA dialog is about,

(And yeah, I am a veteran, but would never use that service, given my other coverages)

I wondered about his age myself... I never met DENNIS face to face.
