June 15, 2024 Seri Marketplace
Hi,
This Saturday June 15, 9 am - 4pm, our good friends at Tree of Life Nursery are hosting their annual Seri Marketplace.
"To revive and preserve the memory of California’s simpler times, Tree of Life will again be hosting the Seri Indians who will be displaying and
selling their artful wares on Saturday, June 15, 2024, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm"

Also expected are our Baja friends Dario Higuera and Trudi Angell, producers of the award winning film La Recua https://larecua.com/ in which Dario is the main character. Also a big welcome to Nadia Luna from La Paz, BCS.
Tree of Life is California's premier grower of California and Baja native plants both for wholesale and retail sales. Co owner Mike Evens knows as
much about Baja flora as anyone I know, Jon Rebman excepted of course.
So if you are in the area swing on by and maybe purchase some genuine Seri produced baskets, carvings or a plant for your native or Baja gardens.

I was privileged to meet Dario Higuera and see the film, La Recua, last Saturday at a private showing near my home in North County San Diego.

I sure wish I could be there! I have two beautiful Amazonian Indian baskets and 3 Copper Canyon Indian baskets that I treasure. What fun it would be
to add to the collection.
We once had a California guest at our hotelito whose profession was baskets and basketry. She had dealt with weavers all over the world.

Looks like this movie came out in 2021. Where can it be seen? Is it streamable?
Woke!

When the documentary was first released there was an active screening schedule. It was at TOLN back then and I suspect David K recently was invited
to view it in Rainbow at another nursery? or there abouts, where the principals are staying now. California nurserymen and women are often Baja
aficionados.
I do not know if it is available for streaming but I will ask tomorrow if and how one can view it nowadays.

Correct, at Santiago's nursery, in Rainbow... about 6 miles from my home. Dave Capron (Baja Vaquero) invited me. It was he who transported Dario from
the airport to Rainbow, as I understand. Santiago (both junior and senior) were very hospitable and invited me to their ranch east of Tecate.
