Cartel activity is out of control in this area, unfortunately.

Harald, thanks for posting that article.
Apparently, the criminals had not read your info about airing down the tires!
Note to drug runners: Read Harald's advice before attempting to smuggle drugs by way of offroad routes. http://4x4abc.com/jeep101/soft-sand-deflate.html

Tires definitely look bogged down in the sand.

What I don't get about the story is that the vehicle, a Suburban, was stolen only to be found abandoned later with "several kilos of drugs" in it.
Then the police only found out about the incident because one of the victims mentioned it on his social media, even though the truck was a rental,
rented to go watch the Baja 1000 go by. A lot doesn't make sense in this story.
There most certainly is but one side to every story: the TRUTH. Variations of it are nothing but lies.

This is in the same area (Valle de la Trinidad) and matches the description of the vehicle (white suburban) that shot at the Baja 1000 chase truck.

Bad hombres are around with their buddies and looking for opportunities. Have fun, pay attention.
US Marines: providing enemies of America an opportunity to die for their country since 1775.
What I say before any important decision.
F*ck it.

rule number 1, dont drive at night (no exceptions for baja 1000 fans and teams)
And with prior reports of hijackings in valle de la trinidad, probably should avoid offroading there, stay on the hwy, and be gone before sundown.
And baja 1000 organizers should not run their race thru known bad areas, no reason for baja 1000 organizers to entice teams and fans to travel in
known bad areas.
Woke!
Hands off!
