Anonymous Posters

Let's try this. Since the beginning, there have been a few anon postings that are valuable but usually they are used in a negative way. I seriously doubt that losing them will change the board in any way but a positive one. But, that's just me.
And, as much as I don't like this crap, it's only fair.

Whatchall think?

Sorry for the confusion, I'm new at polls. Yes means that you are ok with the anon postings, No means no more anonymous postings. But, seems like I screwed this poll up anyways. Oops!

Seems straight enough but sorry Jr, I just think polls here serve no real purpose, especially as of late.. It's just more fodder for them to use elsewhere. Who needs more of the same.

I was for them until recently. But recently, there have been many more and they are used to attack mostly.

Ban them, with the exception of posting news stories about MX (which for whatever reason are always posted by annons today).

JR: what does yes and no mean in your poll, it is not straight forward. Does yes mean they should stay or be banned. More details in the description please.

Of all the posters running this poll wouldn't you know it . Well if it isn't the biggest attack artist of them all .Who has probably ran more nice people off the board than anyone else or made them go ANON so they would not have to hear your hatred spewed at them . Thanks JR I needed a good laugh today .

Anon's - use a name or be banned forever!

How many polls have we had lately ?

A few to limit anons,
A few to limit infighting among posters,
At least one to ban JR,
Then there was the big root beer float recipe to do.......
I can't wait to see what's next !
Let's see...
A poll to ban DK seems only fair, ($5 says he responds to this)
A poll to ban polls could work,
Then there is the Tequila poll,
and the beer poll,
and let us not forget the p-inche gringo poll,
the "Baja" vs "The Baja" poll,

I'm sure I've missed quite a few possibilities, any more suggestions ?:P:spingrin::lol:

Maybe a poll to ban Divers ??

I am addicted to this board

I am one that voted yes, because I feel it would limit new blood.
I think adding a new board called "Soap Opera" and banning Anon from it would give people a place to vent. Sorry Doug more work moving them for awhile.
IMHO What's yours??:light:
Albert
p.s. Doug I can't spell for ****. Why don't we have a world class spell checker?

You people are totally overreacting to anons. I think that very often people who have never visited this board have an interest or a question or a legitimate reason for being anonymous, and a requirement to register defuses that spontaneity to post. Some website registration procedures are a bit onerous - you have to wait an hour to get your password, or they want too much personal information - and being able to post anonymously once or twice makes it easy. Just because information comes from an Anon source doesn't make it worthless. As a reader-recipient of ANYTHING, you engage your own intellectual filters regardless of the author.

Doug had a pretty good explanation in another thread as to what the problem is.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes was for keeping them, no was for not keeping them.

Jr can you clarify what the yes and no votes are for?

is a yes vote for or against anon posts?

you should edit your first post . My vote went in as a Yes for git rid of them, and it should have been a no for don't let them stay.:?:

sorry I guess I'm to dumb for these things.

I understand our frustration with Anon's but find that much of the time they have good information and that they just don't think they'll be a more permanant part of this board than an occasional comment. Other Anon's use that status as a cloke from which they can launch invisible darts. That part of Anon should be banned, just like a registered user if he/she steps out of line.

However, I'd much rather get rid of the rabblerousers and those few that constantly bi*ch about others. That may be a big headache for Doug though. And before I get crap from any specific poster, I am addressing EVERYONE who feels the need to tear the board down.

In defense of "Anons"; let me add that I often have trouble with the assigned password. The option to select our own would certainly help me. I need to keep a notebook next to the computer for the 30-40 differant codes needed for my internet use. Often, if the password is rejected a few times; I just give up and post "anon". Not trying to hide anything; just frustrated with ten digits in combination of letters and number that are case sensitive.

Go to the control panel and your account and it lets you change your password. I missed that feature and had to request a couple new ones before I got that straight.

Bajalou- THANKS! That was easy enough. Problem solved. No more "anons" for me. I wonder if I was the only one with the problem?
