The $600,000 Baja RV
Saw this over the weekend, parked in front of the Loreto Harbor parking lot. They were down to promote the unit during the Baja 1000 and see if they
could drum up some interest. Pretty impressive unit. This is meant to travel all over the world in all extreme climate and terrain. See here:Unicat
Most expensive off-road unit I have ever seen in Baja.

Looks bulletproof, just what the police need in TJ. & vicinity.

Talk about life in a box !!
It needs some windows and frilly curtains !
And where's the awning for those happy-hour parties ??
I don't even see an outdoor shower !
And where's the sat antenna ?? What, no TV ?!!! No Nomads ?!!
Can you imagine a boat loader on top of that thing ??
You could break your neck just climbing up for another beer !!
Not even a screen door !! Must cost extra !!
I bet the ride is really smoooooth !!!
I don't think I would want one ven if I could afford it.

It has it all...
These folks have it figured out. I like to think that I'm a good "Baja Guy", but these folks are over the top. I didn't show the two built-in flat
screens, radiant heat in the floors and showers, Sat T.V./Phone/GPS, built-in water purification system that takes "potty" water and turns it into
"99.65%" "drinking water" at six gallons per hour, the $1,200 per tire cost, front/rear-extreme extraction system, body mounts that bend to extreme
angles, etc, etc, etc. I was thinkin' that a 1963 VW 'Micro Window Bus" would be a better fit for our Baja Nomads group. This is just the far-end
spectrum of how most of us travel in Baja. I only wonder if they have more fun than us...my vote would be less is more. I have to say, after the big
tour, that I we, as a "Baja Nomad's" group, have a lot more fun for under $600,000!

...take your shoes off.
Control Central:
I forgot to mention that you had to take your shoes off before you came "on-board" with the teak floors.

I think I'll stay with the $200, 000 model to travel to Scorpion Bay. Gotta hand it to this guy who came in via Purisima on Saturday after the race!

We saw the rig at checkpoint #5 in Bahia on race day. I liked the on board crane to remove the spare tire.

Wow...$600K....
...that price would tend to weed out most of the people that would like to use such a vehicle!
A couple of weeks ago, we ran across this German 'Outback' unit in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Texas. The guy told me he'd made it himself about 25 or
so years ago. He had been traveling around North America for the past 3-1/2 years. He said he'd already been in Baja California, as far south as La
Paz, and mentioned it was one of his favorite 'excursions'. He had a Border Collie and a shy Cat as his 'shotgun' companions!

Them (above) Us (below)
Seems like a long time ago when we checked if we had trunks and fins and a couple of bucks for beers to see if we were ready for a Baja trip...
