In Jimmy's Honor

In honor of our dear friend Jimmy Smith.

I propose a challenge to the members of this venue to abstain from divisive political posts for the period of 90 days.

As some of you remember, Jimmy was never one to sway from the "Baja" of these Baja, online venues.

Wow...

My quote was "Baja" not "the Baja" with the former as in the spirit of "Baja".

I remain with the challenge. This and other venues were never intended to be divisive. Let's see if we can look past the division and work on the unions.

I'm sure Debra's comment was only to remind us that Jimmy hated the term "the Baja." She wasn't implying that you were using the term. Paz amigo. We stand here together.

Before any controversy begins,

Jimmy reminded me of my many "asinine " statements I have periodically made in public while we were porchin it last week. I had to agree with him.
In spite of my "asinine statements" , we both agreed there is valuable info. on these boards coming from many people.
I suppose if we were all as smart as he is and dealt with life the way he has, we would accomplish the most amazing things rather than our quibbling, whining and BS.
But then, Se?or Smith moved to Mexico and married a Mexican 50 or so years ago. How the hell are any of us going to have insight like that ???

It's indeed sad news that we read of the loss of such a beloved Baja Amigo. whether you knew Don Jimmy in person or just here on the 'Boards', he was a glimmer of light to brighten your day!

His Baja tales are legend, and thankfully Don Jimmy was able to put a few to pen and ink in his fun book, "The Grinning Gargoyle" so we could all share in the fun.

A star in the sky over Baja California Sur is a bit dimmer tonight. Our heartfelt thoughts are beaming their way toward Don Jimmy and his family.

According to my clock...anytime is \'BAJA TIME\' & as Jimmy Buffett says,

Have a good trip, Don Jimmy!!

Don Jimmy, you are in my prayers. Heaven will rejoice in your presence!!

And if I can be just like you when I grow up, I promise I will never say "The Baja" again.

There goes that problem with the 'printed word' again

Mike is right, I was not implying anything negitive about your post 'annon'.....It just reminded me.

I was thinking about Jimmy and his book......that chapter "The Baja", and the references to "famos author" cracked me up BIG TIME! That is how I got to know Jimmy, through email at first. I'm sad and abit selfish at the thought of losing another chance to have a cold cervasa and listen to his tales on his porch. (I was planning a special trip down this spring) although, Jimmy is abit like Neal Johns, in that....you have to get him into his tales, like Neal....he's more interested in you than himself. Like "Jeans" said, we are losing national treasure.

Sorry,
But I keep suggesting that people read my original post. No where does it say that he has passed away.

No Honor from Nancy Drew- Nosey

Within 20 hours of my oriinal challenge, Nancy Drew/Nosey posted a divisive, political, "non-Baja" message to this venue.

How selfish.

Confusion

" will know that he is now reaching way down deep to pull out a yarn that will have them rolling at those pearly gates."
" LOST " a treasure that few others have ever known. Some of us were led to believe what wasn't true because of how we interpret things. Personally I am glad to hear he is still with those he truly loves and truly love him.

Ski Baja,

As the bearer of the original message I was wrong in my choise of words. It was difficult to see the keyboard after receiving his daughters message. Sorry for the confusion.
