Will teachers be at it again?

A Mexican friend has two close relatives who are teachers in different parts of the country. According to these "sources" (granted, this is rumor), the teachers will stage a national strike over the same benefits issues that prompted last spring's sporadic striking. The strike is supposed to take place on August 31st. If you're as overly cautious as I tend to be, you may want to avoid the border on that date.

Can you imagine closing the southbound side on a Friday afternoon/evening? It would back up to Orange County.

Thought about that, but I was more concerned about the possible impact on travel rather that the political implications which, try as I might, I'll never fully comprehend.
