Jimmy Smith

From what I can find out, Nobody has permission to use any of this mans material. In fact, I get the impression the family isn't even in agreement over his writings.
Since Mike O. has not been in contact with anyone in the family, I assume he is a dollar seeking gringo. Typical.
If anyone does have contact with this individual, please let him know that people would really like to discuss this issue with him. If he is a human, that is. Otherwise, who gives a guano. He won't get far.
Like around El Rosario for those of you who have nothing better to do than delve into my past posts.

The Grinning Gargoyle

JR--that is not exactly true. Jimmy left me with several of his books and asked me to sell them for him. On his last trip to the VA Hospital he signed a few which will become collectors items. Don't worry, all of the money I collect is going to his family. If anyone is interested they can contact me at bernieswaim@cox.net.
JR when you get back to Rosarito please contact me.

Bernie, what JR is talking about has nothing to do with distributing books which you and the address given (in the page I made for Jimmy) have a right to do. http://community-2.webtv.net/boojum1/Gargoyle

David,
I am the one who first started hollering about the gentleman being no friend of Jimmy's and I alerted Jimmy's daughter. At the time some on this board thought I was overreacting in my choise of words.
I know he has no permission but he does, apparently, have a couple of manuscripts that he talked about peddling to Hollywood.
I know what JR was doing. I just took advantage and put in a plug for Jimmy's books.

OK gentlemen and others

Here's what's up. No one has permission to use any of Jimmy's work. Do?a Lupw doesn't want it going to the states and Sally is to broken hearted to deal with it at this time.
Mike Overcast made a fool of himself on a number of occasions while visiting Jimmy and neither Jimmy or Steve were impressed by his actions and words. He is considered a shyster by these people who were part of Jimmys life.
He absolutely does not have permission to use these writings.

And Bernie, sorry for the misunderstanding. You of course are an entirely different story and one of Don Jimmy's best friends according to the Gargoyle himself.
Mike O. is of course not. Somehow or other he managed to get a manuscript but as far as permission to use it, he waited until Jimmy was gone to start his blather. I don't blame him either knowing what Jimmy would have done if he found out about it.:fire:

JR the private eye/enforcer

Damn it,
Sally just sent me a picture of Don Jimmy and his grandson, Dylan, hard at work in Jimmy's research trailer and I was going to share it--BUT DON'T KNOW HOW TO PUT UP A PICTURE HERE. If someone wants to walk me through it I will share it. A real neat picture that makes me think of our talks about Baja.

Pictures

Bernie, first you need to shrink the photo size in photoshop or any of the other programs for working with photos. I believe I used to change the size to 400-600 which it will give you those options in the photo working program.
Then save the shrunken file somewhere that you know where it is. (My pictures) for instance. Then hit the browse button at the bottom of the message you are writing and find the picture. Then hit "Open file" and you should be all set.

This Story

I don't know who Jimmy O. is, but there is a very simple way to handle the situation. Either he has a letter from the family giving him permission to use the manuscriopt, or he doesn't. If he doesn't and tries to make use of material that he did not write, then he will end up on the losing end of a lawsuit that he would deserve to loose. Trying to take advantage of a person who is very ill in the hospital is reprehensible.

Jimmy and Skeet

One thing about the Internet Baja people, with a tiny exception, they are just great folks and become instant friends when they finally meet in person. I was lucky to capture Jimmy Smith and Skeet on film. Skeet also met me the first time at that book signing and he was just as friendly as if I was an old war buddy!

Thank you David; As I set at my computer ,with tears in my eyes, reflecting that moment when two ole West Texas boys met and sang together:
"
Theres a Skeeter on My Peter Sweet
Marie'
Theres a Dozen on my Cousin ,can't you hear those Bastards Bussing"
Theres a Skeeter on my Peter Sweet Marie"

Oh so many Memories shared by two ole Boys that started out in the Dust of West Texas, ending their lives with the People of Baja and its Land and Sea.

May God Bless you and Keep You Jimmy Smith,Save a seat for me in that "Super Cub" in the Sky where we can once again can Adventure into the Unknown!

Just Two ole West Texas Boys living the Passion of Life.
