Trailerboat?

Sorry if this needs to be moved. It's not quite a fishing question and there is no "boating" or "trailering" forum.

Yesterday on I-8, I saw a very interesting little rig. It looked exactly like something I imagined building as a kid, but of course, never got a "round tuit". Only this was not homemade. It was all white fiberglass, with a chrome logo that said "Trailerboat, Inc." It was about the size of a teardrop camping trailer or enclosed utility trailer, only boat-shaped with a perfectly fitted, detachable dinghy forming the "roof". Below, it had a small window on the left, door on the right, and what appeared to be a ramp in the rear. A small outboard was mounted on the tongue.

I've searched google and dogpile, but all the search enines insist on seperating it into two words, trailer boat or boat trailer, or referring to an Australian magazine about trailerable boats. This thing's name is obvious as it seems to be a hybrid boat and trailer all in one.

Anybody ever heard of it?

Grover, very funny. I would have picked an Impala of that period.

Doug, thanks! That's it alright.

Dang! The one I saw was so perfectly preserved and new-looking I never would have thought it was an antique. Pity they quit. I guess the only market now is collectors.

Doug does it again. Nice work and a cute contraption.

I knew Fiberglas was around in 1954, but in addition to the Corvette, that looks like a fairly sophisticated use of it for the time.
