big fire now near Maneadero

I can see lots of smoke and a big glow in the sky to the south.

Ridge near microwave/radio antenna hill, eastern edge of Punta Banda peninsula on fire last night. Flames on hills at Ramajal(tidal flats of Punta Banda) and a few hundred meters just east of Cantu this morning. Flames within 2 miles of my house on south side of Punta Banda peninsula close to Camp Kennedy at 3AM. Hope all are safe.

Just got off the phone with a friend at La Bufadora - she had just received a phone call from someone on the road who said the hill behind Junior's Burgers was aflame. Smoke is pretty heavy at La Buf right now - per my friend.

This is third hand info - hoping to hear from someone local on this board with an eyewitness account .

Yes, the fire is behind the Juniors Burger area in El Ramajal. We know a few people living in that area and they were up all night...Apparently started higher on the ridge in El Mirador where ~50 families were evacuated from yesterday. Will have some pix later. Going out to "survey" the area now.

This photo was taken my me at 7pm last night from the south side of the bay of Ensenada, just after the fire started.

Just returned from our survey.
1. Cantu is now on fire. When we went thru en route to Maneadero ~ 10:00 am all was quiet. Returning just moments ago -- it's on fire. The ridge above the town engulfed and within inches of homes. Fire Depts from Punta Banda, Maneadero and Ensenada present. Civil Protection and ambulances present. Intense heat we could feel from the road. We snapped a few photos which we'll post shortly.

2. Mex 1 just south of El Zorillo, directly across from Las Canadas Camping and Aquatic park --- all on fire getting ready to jump Mex 1 and into Las Canadas.

Winds picking up again - it ain't pretty.

When it gets to the dump road, I'm packing. My keyboard is so full of dirt I don't know how long it'll last.

Thanks Paulina. Unfortunatly, your place is between mine and the wind-blown fire. I really don't think we have to worry. The only benefit of a drought is the small amount of fuel. We'll be allright.
Thanks again for the cool Nomad thought.

No visability

No visibility but only in Cantu -- go a little further west or east and it's clear again. This guy is on his roof with a hose. There is a line of men behind him on the ground doing the bucket brigade.

Traffic Control

And very little visability. Letting alternate directions go one at a time.
