Xmas spirit

I realize this has not a thing to do with Baja. Just thought I would share my Xmas story for 2007:

Nicole is my 8 year old grandaughter....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had possibly the most exquisite Xmas moment I have ever had.

Last nite I was being Santa and passed out all the presents to the family.

Nicole has spent the last 2 weeks living with me as her dad had open heart surgery last Monday. She has hinted very heavily, but politely, given her circumstances, that she wanted an IPod.

Money is very tight this Xmas. But I remembered I bought an IPod from Hazman a couple of years ago and it was in the office somewhere.

I dug it out and buried it under the tree.

After all the gifts were given....and not a single pout or disappointed look from Nicole.....I reached deep under the tree with great amazement....and found the Last Gift From Santa.

Or so I thought................

When I handed the package to Nicole....which was weighed down with several cans of chili and soup..she kinda gave me a look.

I remember telling everyone to get their cameras ready as a Kodak moment was imminent.

She opened the box and was at first puzzled by the canned goods. And then she saw the IPod..............

She was speechless!

And then her jaw dropped.

And then she slowly started sobbing.

She looked around the room, making eye contact with each person.

She held the IPod up for all to see.

And in a tiny, emotional voice began crying...."I got an IPod....I got an IPod.....I got an IPod..!"

"Thank You santa......Thank you santa..." "Thank you"

She raced over to me and squeezed the air right out of my lungs.

"I love you Grampa...I love you!" "Thank you for being Santa"

She turned to the room and raised her gift. "I got an IPod!"

Tears were streaming down her cheeks.

Tears were streaming down every cheek in the room.

It was an awesome moment!

It was the best Xmas gift I have ever received.
