Today on a Side Street in Rosarito
I was sitting in the car while hubby walked into the auto repair shop to talk to our mechanic.
A dark green pickup truck with a machine gun mounted in the bed/with gunner and four soldiers with carbines at the ready pulled into the shop's lot.
I called hubby - he said, "I know, I'm shaking hands with them right now."
The soldiers, clad in dark green similar to the color of the truck, were relaxed and friendly, but, make no mistake, they were completely
professional.
Two of them came back out to the entrance to the shop to stand guard.
No, I don't know why they were there - maybe an oil change for the pickup?
I don't think our auto mechanic repairs machine guns.

Yes, it's the Mexican Army in Rosarito to protect us! It's all we have for now. They are using their Army vehicles and the federales are driving the
Rosarito Beach patrol vehicles.
I don't think the Rosarito police force is back on line yet after having their collective gun license revoked by the Mexican Army. Only the Rosarito
cops willing to work without their guns are still patrolling from what i understand. Havent'seen anyone out after dark yet.
The body of a Narco-singer (el gallito?) was found tortured and dumped in TJ last night with a note ("You are next" supposedly directed towards the
police and Military)... so unarmed (or even armed) police will be hard to come by after dark.
The Chief of Police in San Diego issued a strong warning to travelers to TJ/Rosarito today- so spring break will be a bust. Most of the crime I
witnessed during past spring breaks was american kids assaulting and ripping off other American kids and then blaming Mexicans anyway. This year it
may be the criminal Mexicans preying on spring break kids for a change.
