New Cafe and Deli just south of ensenada

My wife and I have opened an Organic coffee shop and deli South of Ensenada on the Transpenisular at km. 115 immediately south of the Estero Beach stoplight/turnoff.

We offer organic produce and coffee, espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, fruit smoothies, frappes, milkshakes and ice cold lemonade. We offer premium sandwiches (pastrami, turkey breast, ham, etc.) on bilillo rolls. We also have fresh baked bread from a local bakery (sourdough, rye, multigrain).

Wi-fi, a US phone, and tourist information are also available.

We are both Americans who have set up our own Mexican corporation to give us our working visas FM3s. If you are interested in knowing more about what it is like living and working in Mexico as US citizens, then come by for good food and conversation. Our indoor establishment is warm on a cold day and cool on a hot day. The gas at the Pemex near us is only $2.45/gallon and you can check the border conditions on the internet.

Hope to see you soon!

Ringing endorsement from me! The place is great, the food is locally famous, and Jimmy is serious about the conversation. A really neat place to while away the hours.

Thanks for the info cafebohemia

I think we have another nice pit stop scheduled for our future leisurely paced trip down to Bahia Concepcion. Good coffee, fresh baked bread, wi-fi, and conversation - how can we pass it up?

And the coffee is excellent!

And when Jimmy says "organic produce" he means yummy cherry tomatoes, spaghetti squash, and some other often hard to find items. I always stop at Cafe Bohemia first to see what produce I can get there before hitting the flea markets!

I hope they make lots and lots of pesos there so they can get a better location. I'd like to stop on my way back from town but no way I'll cross the road to get there. Muy peligroso.

As you approach the Bohemia, close your eyes tight and yank the wheel violently to the left. You'll be fine.

OK, now you nomads have scared me! :(

I take it the cafe is on the east side of the road and I will be going south. What is the road, traffic, other? like there that makes it so dangerous to make a left hand turn? Is it the traffic from the south that you are crossing in front of or the traffic behind you that is going to run you over as you wait to make the left turn? Or just what is the problem? Is the road two or four lanes? Divided or not? Is speed the problem?

Cheers John

Yes, it's on the east side of the road. 4 lanes of hiway, 2 in each direction. The oncoming traffic can make it a little scary to make a left turn if you're south bound but everyone manages! Make sure you're in the left lane and the cafe is located between the Hotel Azteca and Hotel Vargas (both on the left).

One reason we like to go fairly early is the traffic is less---so that violent jerk to the left should not be as much of a problem.:lol:

OK, minor hijack here. Sometimes on our way home we do want to make it that far ---unlike the young and crazy ones, we don't drive home in a day. Do you know if the Hotel Azteca and or Hotel Vargas are decent and are they dog friendly?

Sorry for the hijack, but the cafe would be REAL convenient if we were staying right there. :tumble:

Back to the topic---is it real New York Kosher Pastrami?

It's two lanes in each direction seperated by faded, yellow painted lines. The traffic at that point is bad, regardless of the time of day. I assume you know full well what "bad traffic" in Mexico means.
To make matters worse, since you are going south, I'll assume you want to continue south with a belly full of corned beef or whatever. Getting back on HWY 1 without going north to turn around may be one of the last things you ever attempt to do.

It's an excellent restaurant and produce store, no doubt. It's just in a bad location and calls for extreme caution when entering from a southbound lane.

Bruce....It's the Cafe Bohemia.
