I'M BAAAAAAACK
Thanks all you nomads for offering suggestions...it appears our router got a bit discombobulated on one of our power failures...so resetting it seemed
to do the trick. Thanks Dianne for the prize winning fix! I was really beginning to panic for a couple days...serious withdrawl...
We finallly got out of our cloud funk here and are back to normal sunshine and west winds. Abalone season is over, we had our last big hurrah ab
dinner with visiting nomads on the weekend. Now onto caracol and sea cucumber. Well, today the power will be off all day due to some repairs on the
line so talk to you all tomorrow....glad to be back!

Hi Shari! Glad you're back. I was wondering?
I'm planning a Bola trip and might fish with Juan's uncle(?) Jose Rosas in a week or so.
Can't wait to come and see you guys again. If fact it makes me a little crazy(crazier?) thinking about it.

Question: How do you eat the Sea Cucumber? I can just imagine the responses this might generate! But I know it is eaten, just don't know how. I know,
carefully.....but inquiring minds want to know.

Here, they eat sea cucumber "pepino" in guisado which is like a stew with diced pepino and veggies slow cooked...they are smaller than the ones we
have on Vancouver Island...where we stripped the 4 muscles out of it and fried em in garlic butter....seafood bacon! I'm glad somebody missed me!

Ahhh Mr.Fly....beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. In my discriminating ojo, sea cucumbers look like a lump of whale snot! They are icky,
slimy, gooey things with no flavor. You know me to be the "I'll eat anything" type of girl but I pass on the plate of pepino gracias. Give me a good
old fish eye anyday!

They must be REALLY bad! I hve a picture of you eating a fish eye, a big one! I guess beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder and I understand
that they used to sell whale snot too, amburgess?

The perfume industry used to pay good prices for ambergris, but synthetics have mostly replaced it. The stuff occurs as a secretion of the intestines
of the sperm whale and was a great beachcomber's delight when found washed up on the sand.
About as tasty as those sea cucumbers, I imagine. Now fisheyes are another thing...muy bueno...especially lake trout eyes boiled with the lutefisk.
