NASCAR is about as far from anything Baja as it gets, i simply don't understand the fun of seeing a bunch of cars running around circles.

NASCAR/Baja
Whoa Jesse, reign in your animosity, compadre.
What is the Baja connection, just that lots and lots of us who have enjoyed racing in the Baja events have also participated in NASCAR. Presently,
Robbie Gordon stars in both, Casey Mears dad was one of our best in Baja (and he lives at LABay with another old NASCAR racer, Frank James) Jimmy
Johnson, the guy who finished second to Jeff Gordon yesterday got started in Baja, with his dad, John Johnson.
Ask Doug the Nomad, that is how his family made their living.... in NASCAR.
Anyway, as to your not enjoying it, well, it is only the second most popular sport in America.
I never enjoyed cricket until I spent some time in India and in England, turns out it is a wonderful, intricate and exciting sport. Dumb me, never
stopped to figure it out.
Hey, I don't like your home town, TJ, and yes, I have spent a lot of time there and feel like I know it and its people quite well.
But I don't put down your town, why do you put down our sport?
And, as to you, Baja Vida, I have tried and tried to explain motor racing to you, you just don't seem to grasp the concept,
oh well, you are still my best Baja bud...

To the first-time observer, chess, baseball - especially a pitcher's duel - and circle-track racing can seem hum-drum.... but not to those that
understand the nuances of each of these contests.

NASCAR
Thanks Doug.... as Brock Yates refers to our sport, "200 mile per hour ballet on the high banks"
Hardly boring...
Nice analogy to a pitchers duel. On the way home from Fontana Sunday we were comparing favorite baseball games.
My favorite, Candlestick Park, Juan Marichal v. Warren Spahn, scoreless to the bottom of the 16th, Marichal still pitching, and Spahn pulled in the
15th.
Mays hits one out just before 1 a.m.
One of the greatest sporting events ever, sure would have been easy to view it as "a very boring evening."
Anyway, Jesse, I promise to be nice, but just curious, what is your favorite sport?
