San Jose Organic Market open every Sat.

To All Friends of the San Jose del Cabo Organic Market*

We’re back! The San Jose del Cabo Organic Market is very pleased to announce that our 2008-2009 market season will begin Saturday, November 1 with extended hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at HUERTA MARIA, across the street from the Tropicana Jockey Club, on the road to Las Animas. To reach HUERTA MARIA, enter from the San Jose Arroyo and follow the signs to the parking area. Fresh organic fruits and vegetables, delicious food and drink, baked goods, preserves, original art, jewelry, arts and crafts, Baja books, hand painted clothing, plants and much more await you this season… including new dining and rest areas and a play area for children. Please leave your pets at home and come and enjoy our first market of the season, Saturday November 1.

We want to make sure that all our market friends know about our new location and extended hours.

We look forward to seeing all of you at HUERTA MARIA on November 1!

Saludos cordiales,

Thats awesome Judy good luck with that I hope it catches on like wildfire!
It seems most if not all organic operations are in Baja Sur, here in Baja norte agriculture is tightly in the hands of agribusiness with nary an organic product (local) to be found.

Mike,
Yes we are fortunate to have local growers who sell locally.
Anyone in the area should check it out.
Hasta

Will it be every Saturday? I am having a little trouble understanding where it is.... Is it on the new road behind the tropicana? What is the jockey club?
We will see you soon!

Ford, yes it will be every sat until the last sat in May. I did not write that press release and it is confusing. If you go behind the Tropicana(Centenario?) toward the sewage plant, you take a left and head across the arroyo toward La Playa(Puerto Los Cabos). You will see signs for the Jockey Club to the left. Follow those signs and you will see signs for the market. We are across the dirt road from the entrance to the Jockey club which is a salon for eventos.
Shari, I do feel lucky to have access to wonderful produce. These first weeks will be slow as there is little produce ready for market but all the other things will be happening. The food this year promises to be a big draw with Tez(used to run Sardina Cantina now www.tezcateringcabo.com) will be doing breakfast, DJ from Baja Fire will be cooking something on his portable barbeque machine, Raul will be there with his wonderful homemade ice creams, Fabian will be there with his delicious tamales, possibly a guy doing fish tacos, and more!
Hope to see some nomads supporting this worthwhile endeavor. We, of course, will be there selling our wide selection of books.

Ford, go to GoogleEarth and put in these coordinates:
23 04' 05.64" N 109 41' 29.61" Or just bring up San jose del Cabo and mouse around until you are in the area. Watch the lat/lon readout at the bottom of the page and it will get you there.

The Jocky club is a big round palapa that shows up on GoogleEarth in the middle of a grassy green area just NE of SJdC. The market sets up in the grassy lot right next door to the east.

One road comes in from the south like Judy said and another approach is from the bend in the new four lane road that goes around behind the Tropicana from the sewer plant to the Pemex station. Once you've found it it will be easy to find again.

Jefe
Hope to see you Sat but let me clear something up...we are NOT in the Jockey Club this year but across thata dirt road in Huerta Maria. There will be signsand it can be seen from the road.
Also that road in the bend is not in good shape and I could not recommend it. I would highly recommend that you use the arroyo road described above. There are signs all around town for the Jockey club so follow those.

Just wanted to let all of you in the Los Cabos area know that the San Jose Organic Farmers Market is going full blast. It is a fabulous way to spend a saturday morning. Tez is there preparing killer breakfasts, Bajafire is there with hot cinnamon rolls and sandwiches, there are lotsa of people with tamales, sopes, soups, gourmet coffee, baked goods and there was even a guy last sat with pizza. There is also a guy with homemade ice cream. The produce is starting to come in. It was hot so late here that the growers couldnt plant lettuce, etc. until recently.

There are crafts, jewelry, hand painted tiles, plants(lotsa herbs!), , jams and jellies, original art, clothing and need I mention.....BOOKS and MAPS. A perfect place to do your Chirstmas shopping.

We are very proud to be the newest member of RED MEXICANA DE TIANGUIS Y MERCADOS ORGANICOS. The following is a video of all the markets involved. We are at the very end. The music is wonderful, I think.

I hope to see some of you Nomads there in the weeks to come. It is a delightful way to spend a Saturday morning and early afternoon. The hours are 9-3. We are located right across the road from the Jockey Club in San Jose.
