Happy Halloween Skeets!

I'm going to a party tonight dressed as you! A Cowboy Sheriff.
I'm going to shoot everyone who disagrees with me. Texas style:yes:

Every year there are busloads of kids from TJ that trick-or-treat in our neighborhood here in Santee - they are always the most polite kids and we enjoy them coming by. My wife Deb hands out full-size candy bars which makes ALL the kids very happy!

Lynda and I are shelling out some very fancy candy sticks she found right here in town to some really polite, scary little munchkins. Not too many this year but those who are trick or treating are going all out with the costumes.

In one of today's Ensenada's newspapers there was an entire page dedicated to Halloween in Ensenada! YIKES! They LOVE Halloween here! In the schools, all the kids dress in costumes, there is a big haunted house thing in Ensenada, and there were pix (in the paper) of the local establishments that were decorated for Halloween...NOT Dia de los Muertos, but Halloween! In fact, the woman who cuts my hair...and she GREW UP in Ensenada....never knew about Dia de los Muertos until her daughter went to school. There was this thing about teaching the kids about "Mexican customs..." She still hasn't been to a cemetary (EVER!)

Well, I didnt' see even one kid in costume out on the streets tonight here....definately NOT a big thing. There is a costume night at the disco tomorrow though and an All Saints Day celebration tomorrow night in front of Bajaboys place...the new cultural center...with food booths and entertainment. We may throw a few horshoes before we go for munchies.
By the way, Bajaboybaby is really slaying all the baby girls here with those blue eyes, and the moms and tias too...he's a real famous kid cruisin the town in his stylin stroller.

Dia de los muetros is more of a mainland/southern Mexico thing. IMO Baja is just a little outside some of the cultural beliefs and ties that the rest of Mexico shares.. this is not a bad thing.. its is just a different thing! It's Baja.. (think Hawaii or Alaska to the lower 48)

Here is a picture of our humble shrine from last year. I now much prefer Dia de los muertos. To me it is a beautiful day; but, also very sad. This last year my mother passed away so it means much more to me now.
