Puerto Penasco to Caborca

Has anybody driven highway 37 from Puerto Penasco to Caborca in Sonora? I'm leaving next week for a trip down the mainland pacific coast to Acapulco and am thinking of taking this route after the first night in Rocky Point. The maps indicate it's an OK road, but I don't know.

I really like that whole road and have done it several times. In the old days when I was teaching on the Indian Reservation in Arizona we used to go to Desemboque and Libertad a lot to camp and explore the backcountry. If the wind is howling with a Norther, then you might want to reconsider as there are places where the blowing and drifting sand can get pretty bad.
I also like the road to Caborca from Sonoyta, as this is some really wild territory.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like it's a lot quicker than Rocky Point to Sonoyta and then to Caborca. I'll be getting to Rocky Point via San Luis and the new road from Golfo de Santa Clara.

Please report back on that new road in detail. I am planning on taking it on a trip to the south campos in late May.

OK but I may be still bumming around the tropics then. I'm heading way south. I'm thinking that I'll stop in an Internet cafe now and then, but I may just ignore those places except to check my bank balance if I lose count.
