destino resort
i've noticed that nothing is happening at the destino resort between ensenada and mirador on the toll road. does anyone have any information about
that project? is it still going to be built or has it been abandoned?

Would you buy there? That whole coast line is slowly sliding into the ocean. I remember the grand opening when it was Ventana Al Mar and one of the
main 'investors' was the ex-interior minister of Mexico and they were going to have helipads so you could fly right in to play tennis and they did
build a private sand beach, have you seen it? It's about 20 feet wide and made of dirt.

This project originally was Ventana al Mar with the infamous

I highly recommend you drive by with your eyes wide open and check the terrain that is just south of this landslide area.
You will see the old road that is falling into the ocean. Imagine the arroyo when it gets heavy rain.
Google the original project Ventana al Mar, this thing is a definite NO.

Sometimes real beauty comes with a risk. I really cannot fault anyone who would want to live there, based on the spectacular setting. But one must set
aside all logic and reason to believe that the project is doable, or has a long term prospect.

Back in early 2002 a long time friend, in a moment of temporary insanity, actually bought a 1500 s.f. unit there for over $400k USD, much to the
shock of all her friends and acquaintances. This was in the very beginning of the project, before much dirt had been moved around. She had bought
off the plans.
She was told that Phase 1 (first Condo building) would be ready for occupancy within about 2 years. After about 1 year, with not a whole lot of
progress (and many warnings by people, not only about the questionable financial viability of this project, but the location near a major fault), the
developer changed everything... design and all, which changed what she thought she was buying. They asked her to sign off on the new design, which
she refused to do. They then told her that the first condo phase was sold out (total lie) and encouraged her to buy a single family home within the
development... yes it would be more expensive, but so much better. At this point she had $100k at risk (deposit), but fortunately she had the
presence of mind to demand that it be held in escrow in the US.
She ultimately cancelled the deal and I think all funds have now been returned to her, but no way, no how would I buy into anything in Baja from
drawings.
This story had a happy ending for her, but I know of others who have not been so fortunate.

i kind of thought that it was a failed project, but i didn't know. no, i have no interest in any kind of project like that and am glad that it is
delayed, hopefully forever.
the beach that they built doesn't look anything like the beach scenes they show on the website. i would hate to haul anything, even a beach towel,
back up to the house after a day in the water. what a WALK!!!.
schwlind, i've driven by that place a million times but i'm shocked that this started in 2002, time flies!!!! and your friend was lucky.
