Abducted so cal boy

Here is an excerpt from the SLO news paper this morning about the missing boy from San Bernardino.

"FBI agents traveled to Mexicali to handle immigration paperwork for the boy, who holds dual U.S. and Mexican citizenship. The agents then brought him across the border, where he was reunited with his mother, Maria Rosalina Millan, in Calexico on Saturday.

Gerardo Franco, a spokesman for the Baja California state prosecutor's office, said he understood Millan was not reunited with her son in Mexicali because she is an illegal immigrant in the U.S. and was afraid to cross the border."

As an American citizen I need to get permission from the US to fly my plane across the border or back. In the LA times the written article says "the pair were flown back to San Bernardino" I think it would be easier to get back across if I was an illegal. Nice to know that the 3 hour drive was too long for them so they got a flight (on the taxpayers' dollar of course)

"they" haven't said why the kid was taken or the house targeted in the first place. i'm betting the entire family is breathing borrowed air and the fbi/dea or ice/cbp is gonna come knocking in the real near future.

you heard it here first.

in order to convict the kidnappers, the u.s. govt will offer amnesty to the family in return for their testimony.....

whatta country:light:

edit:dea

If the mother wasn't willing to go back to her country to claim her son, knowing wher he was in Mexico- they should have left him there and deported her to jon him.

The boy is a U.S. citizen. I didn't make the rules but I expect law enforcement to follow them.

I have two sisters-in-law living illegally in the USA with US Citizen children (three attend la jolla high), so I'm not heartless about this. I do think this particular family sucks. They didn't have any friends or family willling to help with their son in Mexico? And what is their grand plan now that they are back home- don't open the door for kidnappers? How long can the sheriff protect the family and shady parents- who shouldn't even be there, let alone drain the states resources doing it.

Why should taxpayers pay to airlift the kid when the police know what the "motive" for the kidnapping was. If the USA is going to start airlifting every US Citizens who are victims of some crime or another down here they are going to have to start their own airline shuttle service.

I don't know any more about this than what I've read here. I suspect the kid's probably being used as a pawn but I also believe he's an innocent victim. We can debate immigration policy elsewhere. Bottom line is that a U.S. citizen was kidnapped. I wouldn't expect the U.S. to have different policies dependent on responsible/irresponsible parentage.

After the fact, let social services and the courts decide.

I think Dave got it right this time, but what kind of parent (that isn't complicit at some level) lets the border stop her from getting back her child? Our family would have all the local uncles and cousins out looking, and if the little guy hung out in TJ strip bars- they'd likely find him.
