Awesome Baja Dog Shelter Needs Your Help!

If you love Baja and its dogs, just love dogs or just love Baja, please consider making a donation to this awesome shelter in La Paz:
La Paz Dog Shelter
bajadogshelplineoflapaz.org

They are in danger of closing by the end of the summer if they can't secure $2,000 of committed monthly donations.

They are awesome and inspiring. Even $10/month will help--that's less than the cost of a couple beers or a few cups of coffee.

Thank you!

I'll send a donation if someone from La Paz can confirm that this is a good organization doing good.
Waiting for comments from the La Paz contingency.
Thanks,
Kath

Thank you! I'm in Portland, Oregon, but visited the shelter when I was in Baja. I also visited the one in Todos Santos. They're both great, but the one in La Paz is really incredible. They've done so much with so little, the dogs are well cared for, the small staff reaches out the community in big ways. I wish some of our shelters here in Portland were doing such good works. Hoping someone from La Paz weighs in!

OH, and I forgot: your donations are tax deductible. They are a 501c3, registered in California. I've donated to them over the last year, giving friends bday presents that way, and I always get a nice thank-you and receipt.

Mexitron--did you click on any of the donate buttons on the "How can you help" page? I just tried them and they're working. They take you right to PayPal . . .

Thank you Danaeb for verifying this organization. I just made a small donation. More may be coming after more research.

My dog stayed there for almost three weeks after an ACL operation. They treated him very well. They only had about ten rescue dogs then and I had no worries about my dog getting some thing from them. When they bring in a dog they quarantine them for, I think two weeks. After they've been bathed, given shots and checked by a vet they can join the general population. This was at least three years ago and have since moved to a larger facility, I believe.
Here's a BajaInsider article with a lot of info. http://www.bajainsider.com/baja-life/charities/dogrescuenews...
If you subscribe to their news letter they'll keep you update on their facility.

**Update**
The shelter is now almost half way to meeting its goal of $3K in committed monthly donations. They have renegotiated the prices on a host of their core needs and expanded their network of resources so they can keep the shelter open. What they've done in 2 months is awe-inspiring. They've had to stop taking in new rescues, but hopefully that will change soon.

To those who have made a donation already, thank you! To those who haven't, please consider even $10/month for the dogs!
