Sunday Brunch and Belly Dancers!

For those of you who are going to be in the Rosarito area this weekend, Ruben's Baja Grill (across from Las Gaviotas on the free road, approximately eight miles south of the Rosarito Beach Hotel), there will be an all-you-can-eat buffet with champagne/mimosas included and entertainment provided by a local belly dancing club.

We attended last year and a very good time was had by all.

There was a waiting list for tables, especially on the patio where the performers were. Many children, toddlers to teens, spontaneously joined the dancers, showing off their own moves.

See ya there!

We used to go nearly every Sunday but the consistency of the quality of cooking started to go really down hill the past few months, half cooked bacon, burnt sausage links, cold food that should be warm, great mimosas and atmosphere though. I would love to see them get their act together again. Ruben is such a doll.

Good Food Now

Ruben opened another location in downtown Rosarito last year and he had some ups and downs at his main location because he wasn't there to supervise things.

He is back full time and the food has returned to the high quality level.

Last Sunday, he did a paella (shrimp, mussels, scallops, chicken, sausage) for the first time and asked every table of customers what they thought of it.

He cares, he listens and he will take care of his customers. He has a passion to do things right.

You got my attention with the belly dancers--quite an art and worth seeing if done well. Unfortunately, Rosarito isn't on the travel schedule for this weekend.

Like Demiteri, Ruben is a "Restaurateur" in the classic sense. He is very concerned about his customers, correcting any problems and improving the food, the service and your experience at his restaurant.

Here he is last winter with is daughter.

Demiteri, I haven't heard that name in quite some time. He was absolutely the best!! I sure miss him at LaFonda. Itr's nice now but the old LaFonda had character. I would even go solo. Loved it and felt very comfortable.
