Disclaimers

DISCLAIMERS

Baja Nomad is a fabulous forum. It has a set of rules. Even when members adhere to the rules in general or specifically there remains enough civil free space to allow some to bog down the flow of information.

Some of my fictional short stories about Baja caused controversy when it was not expected. So, when I was about to post a piece that might evoke rancor I included a disclaimer reminding the board, the readers, the piece was pure fiction. When the subject was unbelievable to some I even went so far as to remind the readers the author is an accomplished liar.

Maybe we need a list of general disclaimers we could include in our posts (as captions) to alert members. I herewith offer up such a list and invite others to add to it, change it, make it more manageable: (ironically newcomers would not be suggested to use the Disclaimer Index, only those veterans who might heretofore caused interruption while adding little).

BND (Baja Nomad Disclaimer)

#1 When I say IMHO, “In My Humble Opinion” I really don’t mean it. I am not humbled by anything or anyone even vaguely connected with this board.

#2 I learned to exaggerate in kindergarten and I can’t stop.

#3 The links I add to posts proving I know more than anyone on the board will ever know do not mean I ascribe to or understand all that boring data. I do it so you won’t think I’m a dullard. I am dull. That’s the proof – otherwise why would I add link after link to my posts? Do the links tell you I’m smart? Can I have a show of electronic hands to show that the more links you have, the more respect you will earn?

#4 I didn’t know there was a Political Forum/I didn’t know about Off Topic.

#5 I am not being argumentative.

#6 My son/daughter was not given permission to use my computer and should never have said those things about David K. (or anyone else)

#7 It is waaay past my usual bed time and I’ve had uncountable numbers of small glasses of El Presidente nitetrime brandy.

My No. 9 - I'm having a crummy day. Since I'm not allowed to kick the dog, I decided to kill an hour of perfectly good daylight and author this post to annoy everyone. Pushing your collective buttons makes me feel better somehow. Get over it already, I have.

I was going to add some clever and/or witty disclaimer to the list but instead all I can do is modify one.

#7a - Last night I stayed up waaaay past my usual bedtime and enjoyed waaaay too many tumblers of El Presidente.

Disclaimer #7a applies to this post.

#10- My post consists of nothing but a string of the silly smiles because the batteries died in my wireless keyboard and all I can do is point and click my mouse.

What's an "opinion?" Don't think I've ever had any of that.
