How to Survive a Baja Party Next Door?

With all respect to the people affected by Hurricane Jimena, this post might be a bit of comic relief.

On Thursday, two twenty-plus foot towers were set up around the pool, which is on the northwest ocean side. Then they set up a 250”x 100” screen on the north. (The size of the screen is just my estimate, it might have been larger. )

There was a sound check on Thursday – it was loud, but not too loud and the music didn’t set my teeth on edge, so I thought, “Maybe, this isn’t going to be so bad.”

On Friday night, the music, the videos projected on the immense screen and the flashing strobe spotlights started at 9:00 pm. The volume and intensity of the assault increased g to window-rattling loud. The “entertainment” played to 2:30 am.

On Saturday, the music and strobe lights and video projections started again, very early, before sunset and continued until 4:30 am on Sunday.:o

I'd like to see some pictures of the action. A warning would be nice. Who's property was it on - a condo compound? Where were the party goers from and where did they stay? That would have great bearing on how you could handle retribution in the early morning hours and on through the early afternoon cutting up firewood with chainsaws and such.

The info is a documentation of events, with 4 edits, but what are the circumstances involved with the "event"?

My posts are edited, because I am legally blind and I go back over them seveal times because I do not like to make grammatical mistakes.

Also, when I am trying to make a big old hippie freaking liberal statement about saving whatver, my dogs get impatient and bump my elbows with their noses, and say, "Feed me, Love me, right now."

I am imperfect, but dogs are perfect.

None of us are perfect, Jan, you're closer than most. And, I have a very imperfect dog...love her anyway.

ditto diver's comment....even industrial earplugs dont work for that type of event so close....so drink some coffee or coke...have a shot of tequila and go party....you can do it once in awhile no matter what your age.

Yes. And then they can join in on the cutting and splitting of the firewood the next morning? You'd need gas powered leaf blowers to gather up the sawdust too.

I find 99% of Mexican live music very painful so instead of joining in or enduring the pain, we, along with the dogs, hop in the RV and get out of Dodge, er, uh, Tijuana. Esteban Loaiza lives down the street. He and his girlfriend Jenny Rivera throw some LOUD parties.

If only he'd hire Carlos Santana................he can afford it.

I would expect my neighbors to have the courtesy to consult with me first. If not, I would find the plug and pull it.

A modern Mexican party cannot be a success unless they have ear splitting amplification, on lousy equipment, play tuba music that shakes the house, a cute kid singing karoke.....endlessly, then the younger "hip" people take over and play gangsta rap with lyrics that would curdle milk except nobody understands the lyrics. And, this has to go on till at least 5AM. I'm with K-rico....

Oh, I forgot.....usually there is another party a block away!

Gypsy: I forgot to mention that we find earplugs to be very effective, gets the noise down to bearable decibels.

You don't want to get invited?

Good neighbors have respect each other.

Dave
I agree if it's a gringo neighborhood. I'm talking about my observations in the middle of the Todos Santos barrio. I wouldn't even think about complaining to anyone about the noise. It's their town and that's the way they party. It is just a shame that it's so loud....and usually Ranchero music. If I knew how though I'd like to get a translation of our rap music to the older folks so they know what's being broadcast over the whole town. Actually I need to get most of it translated! What is that garbage anyway? And now it is spreading to Reggae and more contemporary Mexican music. I guess I'm officially old. Where's my c-cktail? Where am I?

Gringos don't have a concession on politeness. In fact, most of my Mexican neighbors ask if wouldn't mind and I'm always invited to their fiestas. Mostly it's the tourists/renters who are a$$holes. Whether they come from the States... or Mexicali.
