Oct 13 Storm Information 11am Cabo Time - Summary & Update

Sunday October 11th a low formed south of us which became Tropical Depression 19E and then Tropical Storm Patricia.

As safety is the primary concern, our esteemed Port Captain, along with the authorities from API deemed it appropriate to call boats up to 31' to stay within 5 miles of shore. Noontime these boats were instructed to return to port. The port was closed to further in/out travel until he gave the 'all-clear'.

6am Monday the Port Captain, along with API Officials personally inspected our waters by travelling offshore 5 miles. He opened the port from approximately 7:30am to 10:30am and all boats were to stay within five mile of harbor departure.

Tuesday the port remains closed, and we are all watching Tropical Storm Patricia. There has been some rain and minimal wind thusfar. Different areas of our region have received varying amounts of rainfall. There is a system pushing down from the north that appears to be pressuring the storm to move east. There is also a mid level system over the storm that is expected to break the storm up keeping it south of Cabo San Lucas. Interpretation open to discussion: Part is predicted to travel west over the Pacific Ocean (cooler waters) while the other 'half' is said to travel east which will eventually bring moisture to Texas.

With the Los Cabos Billfish Tournament scheduled to begin tomorrow we are hopeful the storm moves quickly away allowing day one to begin as scheduled.

Oct 13 evening-time update - At the Captains/Anglers meeting for the LCBT Event scheduled to begin Wed, the Port Captain announced he will keep the port closed one more day. Thus we are all on stand-by. Light winds/scattered showers .. agricultural areas happy - cows/goats happy - home gardens happy - there will be gorgeous flauna and flora soon and the waterfalls should be lovely.
