Post Storm Road Conditions Ens/Tecate

A friend of mine sent this to be posted. He took the road from Ensenada to Tecate yesterday.
---------

ROAD CONDITIONS, El Sauzal to Tecate, Sunday afternoon, 12/13/09:

The roughly 5 mile section of unpaved road before Valle de Guadalupe, when traveling north, is still dirt, graded, but fared really well considering all the rain. Only 2 short mucky spots, and one definit shallow swimming pool, which can be navigated around. The road is thoroughly "sedanable", as it were.

The wash boarding smoothed out a little from the rains, and the pot hole edges have rounded off considerably, making the road actually better than when it was dry.

The 3 mile section after Guadalupe has 2 lanes of asphalt layed, which will eventually be for south bound traffic, but is being used currently for both south and north bound traffic. This is new road section.

The under layment coat for the section of road before getting to Valle de Guadalupe (traveling north bound) has been layed for the south bound lanes, north bound is still dirt. All traffic north bound and south bound on the stretch before Valle de Guadalupe are using dirt graded roads, but the south bound initial underlayment looks like its ready for the final top coat this week, weather and funds permitting.

All in all, the rains created very few problems for travelers on Sunday, 13th of Dec, 2009.
