Every day thousands of men, women and children attempt to enter the United States illegally — some looking for work, some seeking a new life and others trying to smuggle drugs or other contraband. Many will do whatever it takes, often risking their lives by crossing Arizona’s treacherous Sonoran Desert. Now, follow the officers and agents of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as they scour the inhospitable landscape at one of the busiest border crossings in the country, seeking to fight terrorism and intercept illegal entrants from the air, on the ground and at the ports of entry.

Ride along on chases, rescues and busts with the brand-new series Border Wars, premiering Sunday, January 10, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT before moving to its regular night and time of Mondays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. NGC cameras were given special access to go on duty with CBP agents and officers as they use every means at their disposal — from high-tech stealth planes to basic wilderness skills — to track, catch and deport illegal immigrants. We are there as officers and agents race to save illegal immigrants from possible death in desert heat, uncover a shocking smuggling strategy involving children and find a cache of narcotics that sets a new record for a single seizure.

The border between the United States and Mexico runs right through the sister towns of Nogales, Ariz., and Nogales, Mexico, which are separated by a security fence. Meet the officers and agents struggling every day to defend this border, including Officer Hector Navarro, part of the anti-terrorism contraband enforcement team; Agent Simon Keller, part of an 18-man all-terrain vehicle unit that navigates desert terrain too rough for cars; Officer Oscar Peru, who patrols the vast Arizona desert from a helicopter; Officer Mark Shanley, a 26-year CBP veteran who uses his hard-won experience to supplement the official manual; and Chief Rene Felix, a Nogales native with a personal mission to keep drug smugglers out of his town.

If this is the same POS production they offered a month ago, it's a loser.
It was more about a kidnapping in El Paso, and not much about it, than anything else.
It was a lame production for those who know what's happening.
I watched and wondered when something new would be presented and, it never happened.
Enjoy the regurgitated news. It is really boring.

Will have to watch it to tell. But the description is pretty close to the version we watched a few weeks back.

Was thinking more about the scenery.. might have some good hots of many areas of Mexico... along with State side stuff..

When we went over to Calexico in August to get the wife's SENTRI finished off, it was the first time for me on HWY 8 to El Centro in about 10 years.. had never seen the "fence" they built way the heck up there near the top of the grade, have not really been over to Yuma in about 15 years, Tucson, Bisbee, Douglas AZ has been about 35 for the wife, about 10 for me.. New Mexico and Texas has been twenty... plus

I'll turn the sound down and listen to some music, that usually works for me, on cutting out the stuff I don't like.. have iTunes on right now... and there is always the refrigerator to kill some time with too...

Would have to agree that National Geographic's documentariess over the last decade or so have not been up to their usal standards, but now there are a lot more folks out there with HD camera's giving a run for their money..

Someone hear had an excelent idea about using Capt. Mike in the production of HD shorts... I think is would work, espacially with all the folks one could draw on for a large number of production related issues.. not even talking about locations, commuications .. and the rest..

But, I always like looking a pictures, and when in HD and done will (the scenery, pace, cutting and few others) it is a treat.. I don't have it down here in Baja.. the last time up when I watched it, I was really struck by the colors and sharpness of the picture, I know I appreciate it a bit more.. not seeing it everyday..

I'll have to rent it when it comes out as I don't have: cable, off air, or Sat TV ..... just turned it all off...

Think it helps lower ones blood pressure...

Well, have at guys and gal...
