17 April Rosarito-Ensenada Bicycle Ride

http://www.rosaritoensenada.org/english/

The Original Party on Wheels, April 17, 2010
Rosarito Ensenada began in 1979. It's an award-winning 50 mile bicycle ride along the Pacific Coast and inland through rural countryside from Rosarito Beach to Ensenada, plus a Finish Line Fiesta on the Ensenada waterfront with food, drinks and live music until sunset.

Hey Nomads, come join the Punta Banda Bike Team for the race, the finish line fiesta in Ensenada and the party on Punta Banda later on the night of April 17.

One month to train, so I'm starting with some serious carbo-loading using the Pacifico method this evening.

I see that Geoff and the team at Bajabound Insurance are supporting the event again this year. Good on you. Riding, too?

Hey BajaDock -

This is Hank from Baja Bound here - We look forward to having you and any other Nomaders do the ride ... 30 years running and still one of the best cycling events on the West Coast. I'll be there trying to best my time from last year. While its a shame that we don't see as many folks from the US side coming down lately, I've been really thrilled to see all the great Mexican cyclists in the field in the last few events.

Can I only do the downhill sections? Just kidding! The road to my house in La Mision is just south of the bridge. Just before the loooong uphill section. A titanium femur and common sense have kept me from even thinking of entering. We sit at the bridge and cheer them on. Everything from serious racers, to clowns in costumes and theme bikes. My favorite little food joint, Magana's, is usually packed with entrants and spectators for a couple hours. It's a great event!

A Ti Femur should be a weight advantage. :light:

Bajahank, I'll look forward to meeting you on April 17. I'm peaking my performance quaffing ballenas de Pacifico.

Bajabass, I've heard of bunz made of steel. But, Cyanide41 is correct on that high-tech advantage. Will have to find you, as I bike your hill weekly. Or is that WEAKly?

Punta Banda Bicycle Club entries in this race include a hill-training BajBound2005, a rehabbing 2007 heart bypass training specimen, a handful of SoCals who own/visit homes in my neighborhood and this old, retired and tired jock.

Beverage of your choice to any Nomad for besting the time of PBBC's fastest Nomad(nomad registration documented before this post).:yes:

I'm officially registered here and with the bike ride folks! Last week I did the Castro-Limon Foundation ride from Rosarito to Bibayoff Winery in the Valle de Guadalupe (about 47 miles); next week it's El Retorno...Ensenada to Rosarito and Bajadock will be riding with me in that one!

Soulpatch, mierda isn't just for breakfast anymore.

Bajablanca, the photo was lifted from the "ride" website. Decided that pumping up the event justified violating copyright laws.

BB05, I know at least one idiot who is treating it like a race. Pobrecito!
