The Beer Truck photo.

What a great shot you took there. Love the guy who looks like it's Xmas 4 him!

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Your life looks idyllic. Like those Corona commercials.

Hope the tranquility remains the same after the paved road comes in.

Mike:
Brandi comes in on holidays mostly.

We have been driving for the last two years....retired and staying much longer...weeks....and we don't want The Bird sitting out that long...also, if you're gonna be there for a month or so, the "investment" in the drive in isn't so bad. And then, there's also the fact that The Boss wants me to haul stuff that doesn't fit too well in Walter Beech's back seats and cargo hold.

Drop in and I'll buy you a Pacifico.

Brandi... La Cantina de Floyd, a super nice amiga who helped us greatly at Viva Baja-4 (2003)... Here's a photo of Brandi from then:

?: Bonanza Bucko, as Brandi used to fly south with Dooooglas I was wondering what is happened to Doug's place? His hot tub was sure great after Baja Mur and I arrived from our ride to Mision Santa Maria in 1999!

David K:
It sounds like you don't know Doug got killed. He and three passengers went in at the 11000 foot level of San Gorgonio on Nov. 12, 2008. He took off from PSP in a 50 knot wind and bad ceilings and lost it on his way through the Banning Pass where a whole bunch of pilots who got in a hurry lost it.

His place is owned by Alfonsina. The Camp told Doug a few years ago that they were gonna take his place over as a rental and maybe a place to expand the Cantina y Motel. So far his place is just sitting there.

We miss Doug.

ok bucko i'll see you then.

we were flying back to AZ from mulege that weekend Doug went in. the WX was crap everywhere, we had bad winds in southern AZ but they were not as bad as socal - no one in GA should have been flying where he was attempting. sit and wait was the prudent call. i think we all get "gethomeitis" and it is a tough disease to beat.

i talked to him a lot by phone, we traded pireps often and checked notes back and forth. i helped him with his 1st trip to ignacio for whales.
must have been hard on his family with 5 or 6 lost.
mountain waves will eat little planes in an instant.

Oh yes, I did know... I had flown with him from Alfonsina's to Oceanside in 1999... and that is why I asked the question: "Bonanza Bucko, as Brandi used to fly south with Dooooglas I was wondering what is happened to Doug's place? "

His grandson died in that crash with Doug and two others.

Here is my son and I sitting with Doug (and Mike and Maureen) at Thanksgiving at Alfonsina's in 2002:
