Over 60 and live in Mexico? Got your INAPAM card yet?
Anyone 60 or older living in Mexico with an FM2 (and in some places with an FM3) is entitled to an INAPAM card. Basically is a senior citizen discount
card, and it entitles the bearer to discounts, some significant, on airline fares (10-25%), bus fares (50% off), utility bills, property tax bills,
pharmacy purchases, grocery stores, some restaurants, etc. Available through your local DIF office.
To get mine in Loreto (with Mirna at DIF), I provided:
3 infantil-sized photos;
2 copies passport;
2 copies MX driver's license (US licenses are OK too);
2 copies of a utility bill.
It took less than 20 minutes, and I had to get the card laminated myself.
Easiest paperwork I've ever done!

Will an FM3 work in Loreto? I won't have my FM2 until next year.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Loreto DIF office
When I got my card in Loreto this week I was not asked for copies of my birth certificate.
Some places apparently ask for it. Some website posts from mainland Mexico say that having an FM3 is OK, and others say they were rejected for lack
of an FM2. Try it and let us know.

what airline and which utility company will honor the Inapam card? Have you tried to use the card for a discount on groceries or at a restaurant in
Loreto? If so where and did they honor it. Thanks for the info

Thanks for the post, Marla, this is the type of info that can really make a difference for those of us on a budget. Can't wait to turn 60 so I can get
my discount card! (Yeah, right).

Good info, amiga! DIF would be much easier here in Todos Santos. We went last year in La Paz but got turned around and around as the same office
processed many other govt programs. I believe water & electric companies give discounts as well as prediales--property taxes!! I will repost
when I have news. Tio

This morning I just used the card for the first time. Went to Similares Pharmacy and got a 25% discount on a 90 peso purchase. (Pills for my dog!)
Wow. I just earned (or saved) $2 US!! I'm liking this!

I'm wondering how much you would have saved from the Similares price had you shopped at Costco or WalMart pharmacies. There is a big difference in
their prices.

My dear,
The similares pharmacy gives that 25% discount every Monday between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm to everyone.
Other pharmacies give a 10% discount. No discount at ISSST store.
No luck at all with busfare. Regular price. Not aware of any electric bill discount either. You will get half off your water bill.
If you take advantage of the early pay property tax discount, there will be NO additional discount for the card.
