2011 BAJA CALENDAR

I just got a note in the mail from Carlos Fiesta that the new Baja Calendar is ready and available now! I know a lot of us love the calendar and look forward to getting the new one:

I spoke to Chuck about 2 weeks before the tragic crash and ordered 12 calendars, but I have no idea if this order has or will be processed as I did it through a phone conversation with Chuck.

I don't know if I should inquire, as in view of all that has happened, it seems so inappropriate to do so... does anyone have any guidance?

Give it a little time. The calendars won't be any good for another month anyway.
Don't forget to send condolences with your inquiry. [probably goes without saying, but it's just a reminder]

I concur with Dennis. Give the family a little time. They are planning his memorial right now for Sunday in Torrance and the calendars are probably further down the list of things for the family to (eventually) attend to.

It was noted by Juan del Rio that "His book, calendar, etc. are still being sorted out."

The 2011 Baja Calendar is being completed by the original calendar man, Marv Sherrill... He has posted the update in another thread on Nomad... I am just adding this note here, in the original thread for anyone who missed Marv's post.

From http://www.bajacalendar.com

"The Wonder of Baja!"

Due to the untimely death of Carlos Fiesta in a plane crash on Nov 21, the publication of the 2011 Baja Calendar will be slightly delayed, but we are attempting to get it out before Christmas.

Marv Sherrill, who began the Baja Calendar twelve years ago is completing it as a tribute to Carlos. Many people are donating their pictures and time to make this happen.

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please continue to place orders, as any profits will go to the family. Thank You

Baja Nomads... don't despair... there is a chance (not certain how great) that the calendars will be published in the future! If this can be worked out, mark your calendars to order them not only this year and but every year going forward! They make great Christmas gifts for acquaintances you wish to remember! I think that Marv will let everyone know if this will happen!

... and a huge thanks to Marv and "Juan" for completing this project in honor of and in tribute to Chuck Chambers... aka Carlos Fiesta!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and very best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and properous New Year!

baja calendar

I just wanted to thank all of you who have ordered calendars! I have shipped all orders received to date - getting close to the break even point - please encourage your friends to order one (or more..), as I still have about 400 left and the profits will go to Carlos' family. I especially want to publically thank John Fields(Juan del Rio) , for working with the family to get me needed materials during this sad time, and the photographers - Marc Elliot, Tom Dempsey, Jim Cline, Pam Folgner and Ken Bondy for donating their photos to use in the calendar. View the updated web site-www.bajacalendar.com) to view the front and back covers and and most of the images for each month. Happy holidays to all. (For you fishermen - remember that Sept 24 is Fish Amnesty Day...) - Marv

I posted a few days back that you were handling the calendar.

Maybe this will help the cyber-impaired.

Thank You!!!

I would like to thank Marv Sherrill for all his help in getting Carlos Fiesta's Calendar printed and delivered! Between he and his wife Gail, they are doing everything that they can to make sure all orders paid for are shipped. Also, a huge thank you to all the photographers who contributed to the Calendar. Without a huge "Baja Nomad" support effort, this would have never happened.

The 2011 "Carlos Fiesta Baja Calendar" is beautiful. I think that everyone who loves Baja as much as Carlos did will be proud!

I know Carlos' wife and daughter are so thankful for everything that all the Baja Nomads have done!!!
