Baja Cactus Cultural Fiesta: WE HAVE EXTRA SEATS!

Yes, it is the 'Baja Cactus Cultural Fiesta' Films, Fun, Food with a museum tour... It is this SUNDAY! Antonio has just informed me we have a few more seats he had been holding for family friends. The room capacity is actually 80. Great News if you still want to go!

Here is what I have for confirmed RSVPs: (using initials of real names)

AM: 6, DK: 2, NJ:2, MF: 3, RD: 1, ZJ: 2, JM: 2, MS('j'): 2, AE: 2, JP('jr'): 6, SG: 2, KM: 2, JS: 2, RB: 1, KT: 2, DM: 6, TD:1, AR: 3, DL: 2, JP('BR'): 2, MS('M'): 1, D&J: 2, DE: 2, B&S: 4, BV: 2, TD ('MT'): 2, 'J': 1, SK: 4, RS: 1, For a total of 70. (updated 8-19 @ 6 pm). When there are duplicate initials, I add the 'handle' initial(s).

There is seating for 80 in the theatre and at PalmAzul restaurant.

This is a fiesta created and hosted by Antonio ('BajaCactus') to meet more Baja loving people. The 2 movie showings, museum tour, and snacks are given by Antonio. The dinner at PalmAzul is all you pay for, a free glass of wine and tour of PalmAzul's Baja art is included.

Antonio owns the Pemex and Baja Cactus motel in El Rosario, and a printing company in Tijuana. My new 'got baja?' stickers were made by Antonio... I will be giving them out at the fiesta. Satellite Man is giving 4 Baja posters as door prizes, other items have been offered (see other thread).

So, if you have reserved but find you cannot make it, please contact me right away.

IF you have severe Baja Fever and wish to attend, email me with BAJA CACTUS in the subject line!

Well, it has been posted... but not exact directions... I am concerned that people will just show up and that wouldn't be nice... People who have emailed me are on a list. Antonio has the same emails and list. Admission to the fiesta will be from those on the list and then up to 70. I have emailed Ted of Baja Talk Radio with the correct procedure. Shoot for 10 am in Tijuana. Antonio thinks a 10-10:30 am registration and meeting time is good, before we see the first feature film. Anyone late will join us for the museum tour and second film, etc.

The thinking was that southbound traffic to San Diego and Tijuana is murder Saturday mornings. Also, many people work on Saturday... Sunday is more relaxing and the dinner will be early so folks can head north before dark, if they wish.

I am back!!!

Hi everyone.... just came back from El Rosario, I was there almost the whole last week, and we do not have Internet there.....yet!!!.:)

First I want to thank DavidK for all his help with this event...you have been amazing my friend!!!:D

Cyndarouh....Thank you for donations for the raffle.... those Julian pies are just great....:bounce:

On the other hand..... I got an original Hugo Lopez painting to be raffle on the event... Hugo Lopez is a local artist at El Rosario, most of his work is based on themes of Baja....his paints are very good....

Well, I have to go now to settle the small details of the event with Cecut and Palma Azul.... I will post some more info as soon as I have it...

Thanks everybody and I believe we will have a great time on the 22nd....:bounce::bounce::bounce:

Everything is going great!!!!

The event planning is coming along very well.

We have been working alongside the Cecut staff for the past 2 weeks and they have been very, very helpful and professional in their assistance. Olimpia Lopez, who is the cordinator of the Cultural Tourism departament, is very happy that we, Baja lovers, are coming to Tijuana, and she is making her best effort to make sure we all have a pleasent and delightful event.... she has been wonderful....thank you Olimpia....

The itinerary at the Cecut place is almost done, I will post it in the next few days.

We have a lot of door prizes already, most of them are being donated by Bajanomads....thank you everyone!!!!:D

Even though this event is being coordinated by us and DavidK, I have high hopes for this to become a true Baja lovers event. A gathering were we can meet each other, talk about our trips, stories and tales about Baja, so come with us and enjoy all of that wich we are getting together, just for you!!!!.... :bounce::bounce::bounce:

About Palma Azul, they have been working in our special menu and rate, I am suposse to have this info today afternoon, so I will post it tomorrow.

Keep in mind that Palma Azul restaurant is a very exclusive restaurant in Tijuana, in fact their slogan is "The New Peninsula Cuisine", so their service, meal and prices should go accordingly......:)

Well, I will post all the Baja Cultural Fiesta details in the next couple of days....as well as more info about the places and movies we are going to be visiting.....:D

About how to dress...

About how to dress....

There is no special dress code for this event....

We will be up and around all day.... sitting, standing, walking some more, sitting again..... .....so we better dress as casual and comfortable as we can....

Palma Azul has no problem with this neither.

Come with us... enjoy the show.... make new Baja friends....!!!:bounce::bounce::bounce:

There are few spaces left....but you can still get a place...

Antonio and all...this is great and I am hoping that it becomes at least an annual event at possibly differing locations. Unfortunately Tracey and I can't make it related to another yearly event this conflicts with.... Zero doubt that a great time by all will be had. Looking forward to pictures and stories to follow. Guys, i can make it to the cultural center, but Palma Azul is a little bit too pricey for my finances at this time, so if its no problem for anyone, i will skip the dinner after Cecut.

No problem Jesse...... If you find you can stay for dinner, then we would enjoy your company! Why not bring pitayas to sell and earn the dinner money? Exotic fruit is valuable when one has the opportunity to buy it. I think cactus fruit is allowable across the border.. I will check my list later to be sure. I will buy some from you!

David & Antonio

I am so bummed that I will not be able to attend this fantastic bash. Know that I will be there in spirit. Hope the good vibes flow at this one the way they did at the first one down at JR's.
Hope you all get to meet Antonio's wife and his father--great people.
