New Cultural Center in La Paz

For anyone interested, there's a new cultural center in La Paz. It's located in the recently-remodeled old Palacio Municipal (which turned 100 years old this year) on 16 of September and Belizario Dominguez.

It has a nicely done photographic history focusing on the development of La Paz and the information is spot-on.

A point that gives the place credibility is that they totally ignore the "South Seas Origin" myth for early peninsular Cape Region populations. Considering how popular that "theory" is locally, it must have taken some balls to omit it.

The place also includes a couple of viewing rooms upstairs with the work of local artists in water colors on display.

Even if you have no interest in history or art, the place is worth a look around just for the nice job they did in restoring the old place. And there's one of the better book stores in La Paz on the premises, too.

It's an easy two block walk up from the malecon, with no hills.
